The Shield - Series 2 - Complete (DVD 2004)

Ciao LAPD, CSI etc. - there is THE SHIELD now and y'all are boring in comparison. There's some bad bad mothers in this precinct and we love them all. Big question though is why oh why do we never get this kind of thing on the telly in Europe - or if we do, it is somewhere between midnight and dawn?

Maybe just a teeny bit disappointed that the character don't quite develop a bit more. Possibly the earlier series are a bit more progressive (so is the black cop gay or not? Will we ever know if his marriage is a happy one?) And how about the dark side of Mackey? Go ahead and shoot a 5th series but please go all the way, please?

Fantastic series with great acting and plot lines spanning over 7 series; Highly addictive & highly recommended.

A must see - reealy enjoyed this series - shame it has to come to an end. I heard it recommended bu Jonathan Ross on the radio and decided to D/L the first series - I watched 2 episodes and I was hooked. Highly recommended.

Still conflict filled, dramatic and violent, but not a match for the incredibly hard-hitting Season 1 or some of the seasons to follow - especially the final one. You'll still have to watch it to understand what follows though, and it's hardly a painful task to do so - even if this season is weak by Shield standards it's top notch by almost anyone else's. As for The Shield itself, it's probably the best cop show ever, needs watching in order, screams to life in the first episode, and ends as strongly as it begins. If you like The Sopranos, the new Battlestar Galactica, etc, then The Shield suit you too.

I bought this dvd set for my brother who loves these type of films.Everything good about the first season of The Shield is intensified in the second. For detective Vic Mackey (Michael Chiklis) and his amoral strike team, these 13 episodes follow "the money train," a stockpile of Armenian mob money ripe for the taking. Mackey's team plots to steal this criminal fortune while under pressure from Capt. Aceveda (Benito Martinez), whose political campaign is threatened by a civilian auditor (Lucinda Jenney) assigned to uncover corruption in "the Barn." The uneasy alliance between Aceveda and Mackey provokes the suspicion of Wyms (CCH Pounder), whose by-the-book vigilance is rewarded while Dutch (Jay Karnes) endures a slump that worsens the Barn's sullied reputation. After being horribly disfigured by Mackey, a vile Mexican druglord (Daniel Pino) plots a territorial coup, prompting the strike team's finest police work while Mackey struggles to save his failing marriage. Post-9/11 tensions erupt when beat cop Danny (Catherine Dent) justifiably shoots an armed Arab civilian.

After getting started on The Wire I picked back up with the 2nd season of The Shield. It took me an episode or two but I was hooked and watch the whole season in two evenings.

The Shield is such a great show, always taking you on a rollercoaster with complex characters and storylines you can love one second and hate the next. Not much fantasy in here just some dark reality. I can only recommend you try it and see what you've been missing.

I loved this box set. The only thing better than season 1 is season 2. I watched the full box set in recored time. I couldnt put it down. highly reccommended

Was amazed by the first series and couldn't wait for the second and boy did it make up the wait. Never thought that it could get any better. Vic Mackey is just as tough and just as mean but yet the best thing in the show. Gitty, tough, fast pace and entertaining.

I bought this for my grandson as he is a big fan of The Shield. The video was good value and he is very pleased with it.

Absolutely AWSOME series, seen series 1 & 2, most of the other series are Region 1, bit difficult to find Region 2, and, if lucky enough to find them, are a bit expensive. Will keep browsing!! Hard Hitting, realistic series.

I like to watch serial dramas at my own pace, hence buying the season box set. I find the shield a totally involving program which builds in tension and action in each episode. The focus character, Vic Mackey, is faced with almost insurmountable problems which he gets around with often more problems, especially when one of his team make a mistake and land Vic in more touble. Right or Wrong Vic manages to pull it all together and resolve the problems but not always in the most ethical manner, which seems to be his personal battle which he justifies buy getting results.
Also the detectives and uniformed Police have their own plots and sub-plots to keep us entertained.
I also like the music and the pace, no time is wasted on unnecessary dialgue and "look at me" BS.

I bought the first series of The Shield as a Christmas present for my husband. We were instantly hooked by the anti-hero character of Vic Mackie. Mackie is a renegade Strike Team leader who always gets into deep trouble but escapes in the nick of time but not always without some personal loss to himself. This makes him a deeply flawed but nevertheless charismatic character who you want to know more about. Although Vic is the main character, the satellite roles are just as well rounded e.g Dutch, Shane and Lemonhead.

We are now so obsessed with this series that we have just finished watching Series 4 and intend bidding for Series 5 in the near future!
