Nominated for seven Academy Awards including Best Picture and Best Actor (Morgan Freeman), this film is an extraordinary tale of hope, friendship and survival inside a maximum security prison.

Wrongly accused city banker Andy Dufresne (Tim Robbins) arrives at Shawshank Prison in 1947 after receiving a double life sentance for the brutal murders of his wife and her lover.
He discovers that when they send you to Shawshank for life...that's exactly what they take.
His quiet strength slowly earns him the respect and friendship of prison fixer Red (Morgan Freeman). He also becomes popular with the warden and prison guards, as he is able to use his banking experience to help the corrupt officials amass fortunes.
But Andy's seemimgly stoic acceptance of his unjust imprisonment hides a fierce determination for freedom and provides a unique chance to change his life.
This beautifully crafted movie features performances from the entire cast and ultimatly provides an uplifting message about the power of the human spirit and the value of hope.

A must see movie.

The film is about a banker, Andy Dufresne (Tim Robbins), who is framed for the murder of his wife and her lover. He is sent to Shawshank prison for life where he befriends Red (Morgan Freeman). He gains the respect of the inmates and guards, but his intelligence is taken advantage of by the warden. Andy manages to escape and takes his revenge.

Released in 1994 it earned seven Oscar nominations in 1995 and was voted third best film ever made.

Every time I watch it I see something else new. Despite its age it is one of those films that will be watched for many more years. I don’t know anyone who can say they don’t like this film!
