This is a very neat minidisc recorder, hardly bigger than the size of the actual minidisc it holds. The charger of the enclosed rechargeable battery is in the holder/stand that it sits on for charging or for replay. THere is also a separate battery pack holding an AA battery than can be used to augment the integral battery.
A considerable disadvantage when making a live recording is the lack of Automatic Level Control. There is a level indicator and adjustments can be made during recording but this can be a nuisance and lack of attention for a few minutes can result in a poor recording.

) Whilst most people use mp3 players & IPODS we needed a mini-disc for recording interviews & making news reports on an offshore radio station. Had been looking for sometime & as an Ebayer had bid for a couple & won this Sharp. I've owned several & they are fine, this was no exception only suffering slightly in post from inadequate internal packaging
