Sgt. Bilko - Steve Martin version

If there hadn't been any Phil Silvers, then this would be an okay film. Anyone who remembers the 50s tv series that this film was based on would not be happy with this remake. The plot is flimsy, where the tv series' were not. There's a large open camp, where the tv series had a compact set. Dan Aykroyd co stars as Colonel Hall. A notable inclusion in the cast is Cathy Silvers (Phil's daughter and formerly in Happy Days)...
Steve Martin is not Phil Silvers, he doesn't come close, bravo for giving it a try, but resurrecting roles made famous by exceptional comedy actors should not be done. Mr. Martin didn't even learn his lesson, more recently trying his hand as Inspector Clouseau, maybe he likes the uniforms.
Watch this film if you have to, as for investing money, buy the Phil Silvers Show box set...
