Sennheiser PX 200 Professional Headphones

People wake up this is 100% FAKE FAKE FAKE. The sound was terrible. You must be deaf if you can´t hear it that this is no good. Anyway I receved it just in envelope. Of course they were broken. This review is not really about the PX 200s - its about the tragic efforts I bought, thinking I had got a bargain!
First of all; if you are thinking of buying sennheiser px200 phones off ebay, then do some research. I did and found that the fakes/rejects did not come with the hard carry case. So I bought a pair that clearly stated that they came with carry case. It of course was a carry case; just not the proper carry case (a soft black draw string thing it was).
Ask the seller first and if he says no hard case then don't buy cos they aint the real deal.

On to the headphones themselves:

Well they were interesting. If Sennheiser were at any point responsible for releasing these onto the market, then somebody in quality control needs sacked.
Cheap, loose and plastic: like the kind you find at the bottom of a bag in the bottom of a cupboard you last cleaned out sometime in the eighties.

My seller refunded me no problem including postage and also the postage I paid to return them so it wasn't too bad for me.

Of course ebay and paypal both got their cut and no doubt the seller sold the same phones to someone else.

I would expect the selling of these donkey phones to continue so this is my warning to check first and if in doubt, don't bother.

I bought these new and sealed for around £15. Previously I had been using a pair of my friends sennheiser earphones, (he told me he paid around £19 for them). These headphones had a superior sound quality to the earphones, better in the bass region, nice clean treble, plenty of information in the mid regions, just a better overall sound. I noticed they played louder than the earphones, easier to drive, very efficient. In conclusion I rate them very highly. One of the best headphones I have ever heard at any price! If you are considering ditching your earphones for a compact pair of headphones, then I can strongly recommend these.

the ear cover of the px 200 is excellent but the px 100 sound quality is far superiorin all departments no contest.

They look very similar to the real ones. The fakes I received didn't include a hard case, even though the packaging stated that one was included! In the real packaging you can see the hard case. I thought by buying from a uk based powerseller (ngiantaq) who included authentic in the title I was ok. Beware.

Sound quality was very poor, compared to the originals, with barely any bass OR treble. As a sound engineer take my word for it, the fakes are not even worth pennies (much worse than the cheap headphones included with mp3 players). They may look the same, but there it ends. I would be very careful about buying these on ebay, as I thought I had been. I also noticed that I could see the welds and that they were not 100% in alignment. The real ones don't show any signs of construction. I did receive a refund, but wanted to highlight this problem to other ebayers.

Other fakes I have noticed include Shure SM58 microphones (and compact Sony microphones) which seem prolific here on ebay. They seem to sell for only a bit less than the real ones. The whole point of having the real ones is their performance. Pay the extra money at Turnkey etc as they hardly devalue even after years of use and abuse, when sold here on the bay.

This rating covers the fakes, the real ones would get 4 points. They are very compact, you hardly feel them and knock out a bit of the ambient noise, without needing to be implanted in your eardrums. The sound quality doesn't match my Sennheiser HD25sp's but then again the px200's are £25-£55 (for the real ones!) compared to £90. For home and studio use I would use the 25's, but the 200's are great when on the move.

I do wonder how so many of these fakes exist on ebay as they are illegal!

Brought these headphones touse with my IPOD. The fact that they fold up makes them ideal for travelling. They do block out alot of exterior noise which helps make the sound quality excellent. I do find them a little uncomfortable after a while but I found that if you swap the ear phones around they are more comfortable.

The sound quality of these headphones is far superior to the ones that came with my old ipod. Although they came with no box for them to be kept in, having seen one I think it'll be to much of a pain to have used anyway.

I first brought these headphones on eBay - I waited two weeks for delivery and then gave up. I then brought a pair on Amazon and was extremely pleased. Two weeks later I received the original pair. I could compare with what I brought on Amazon and they definately looked fake and the sound quality was poor, so I'm currently in the process of getting a refund on PayPal as I'm not paying for fake goods.

I expected these phones to have a similar soundsignature as the PX100 open phones. These are nowhere near the px100, they sound thin, very poor bass, and not powerfull at all combined with an EU Ipod, not recommended!

I liked them for good portability, I listen music from NOKIA E51 MP3
player, and I am satisfied with the volume and quality of sound. I even tried them during running - it worked quiet well, only then running in windy conditions the wind was overwelming music. Again - good value for money, and this is very important.

Lightweight 'over the head' phones. Ideal for those who can't wear buds. Good dynamic response. Well worth trying. I like 'em!!

I decided to buy the px 200 model as i wanted good quality headphones with good bass.After trying them out connected to my nokia N95 i am not dissapointed,and could not find any distortion when at the highest volume.In short,i would recommend these headphones.

Ebay is an excellent place to shop! However sometimes we don't recieve what we believe were getting! I bought some Sennheiser headphones which were of the poorest quality in construction and sound. I know this because I own a pair of the same model and these were bought as a back up.. The edges were rough, you could see where welding had taken place, and they were loose like an old pair of glasses. I'm not sure if these were a factory variant, second or a fake copy.. But compared to the pair I own they were of very poor quality! However I was given a refund.. But lost on return postage! Sometimes if something is too good to be true.. Then maybe it is! Buy with caution!

I bought the Px100 headphones after buying a pair of Sennhheiser PX200's which my girlfriend liked so much I gave them to her. I also own a pair of Sennheiser EH150's- All bought within the last four weeks. The PX 100's have foam on ear pads, a light airy feel and sound with good bass and are comfortable worn for long periods. They also came in a great hard plastic box. I use mine in the gym with either my Walkman or my Zen stone. Totally recommended. The only downside is the open backed design means other people get bugged by the annoying sounds you are listening too and they let outside sound in so you have to turn them up louder in noisy places. Not usable for those insomniac nights when your partner is trying to get to sleep.

Fine in a noisy space but not in the library. Best overall of the Three. (see note below)

The PX 200's have comfortable leather on ear pads and a closed back and a very cheap floppy case. They have a much punchier bass sound than the PX100 and the EH150. They are comfortable but they fall short of the PX100 for long use comfort - although I acknowledge this is subjective - because the sound is so punchy it gives me a headache and they make you feel closed in.
They are closed backed so there is significantly less sound leakage than the PX100. Overall worst of the three (see below). Again I use them with my MP3 players which drive them perfectly. I would still recommend these for people who want closed backed headphones but are reluctant to wear clunky great over-ear jobs.

The EH150's are over ear design - so they completely cover your ears knocking out a lot more of the environmental noise than the PX100's and the Px200's. You need small ears though to fit inside these and I reckon anyone wanting these should try them on. I use these in the gym with my mp3 players and although I feel a bit stupid because they are big and obvious they are driven easily by both mp3 players and they are light (130g), comfortable to wear and do not come off when exercising. They do get sweaty though. The EH150's certainly have the best overall listening quality of the three. They are significantly more expensive than the others but you can still get them for under £30.00.

Addendum - Here's a thing I bouught another Pair of second hand PX200's by mistake and the difference between both sets of Px200's was astouding - ,y first pair that I did not like as much were significantly lacking in mid range and 3d presence My second pair are fantastic. This could be due to length of use chagning the speaker response but I did leave my the ones on for a couple of days to break them in. Could be that the speakers are manufactured differently now. So in conclusion if you get a good pair of PX200's you will love them. By the way my Girlfriend could not tell the difference between the two Px200 sets.

Tip - watch you dont cut the cable in the folding mechanism of the arm.

The thing that impressed me the most was the bass! How they pack it all into such a small speaker is beyond me but hey who cares - they sound great!

Item description was detailed and accurate. Very pleased with them. There was a slight delay in delivery but that was due to holiday period around christmas - other than that is are no faults for me to pick on.

I managed to get a pair of these closed lightweight folding earphones from ebay for under £20 brand new and boxed. A girl I work with let me hear her pair of PX200's through a Sony mp3 player and I was very impressed with the fidelity. The seperation was excellent and you could make out individual instruments with ease.
When I got my own PX200 I plugged into my ipod Touch and was a bit underwhelmed as the Touch struggled to drive the phones and I had to slide the volume control almost full up. When I tried them in my old ipod Nano Mk1 the sound was more like the Sony. Apple really need to sort out the sound quality on the Touch. It has the worst sound and lowest volume of the 3 ipods I own.

Anyway to conclude, I would say that with a good quality sound source, the Sennheiser PX200's are a cracking pair of earphones that actually bear comparison to Sennheisers own high-flying HD650's. I actually also own a pair of 650's so I am allowed to make that comment ;)

I work in the media/music industry, so im always listening to music on the go, one day a friend let me use a set of these PX 200's and could not believe how good they were, so the next step was hunt on ebay and i found a brand new set and bought then and i bought a second set for an even cheaper price than thee first. It goes to show what you can find if you look around.
ALWAYS ATTACHED TO MY HEAD!!!

I needed a pair of headphones that fit my small ears and being a professional editor i like my sound quality to be high. I stumbled upon these. A pair of Sennheiser headphones. I have heard a lot about Sennheiser and thought i'd give it a go.

After i received them, i obviously testd the sound and it is very impressive. The size is compact, while still very comfortable and the quality is very good compared to the standard 20KHz-20KHz sound. Each base, pop, and instrument sounds very nice on this.

I was extremely pleased with these. The only slight draw back could be that they need to be properly looked after and can't be just carried in your bag or under other objects as it is brittle, due to its comfortability and flexibility. I am absolutely glad i bought these and would buy them again.

If anyone is looking for excellent sound for casual listening wherever you are, while reducing environmental sound, with a sophisticated look and design, then these are the ones. I use mines all the time and they cause me no problems, just excellent sound quality.

This item delivers a really good sound quality for its price, and very lightweight. The only thing missing now is a volume controller...........

The PX200 delivers great sound quality for something thats very light and compact. The bass has a great punch while the higher pitches arent too rough which is more common for headphones of the same size. All in all very impressive.
