Schindler's List (DVD 2004)

Words cannot really express the brilliance of this film. It is one of the select war movies that shows the horrible side to war. War as it should be shown, rather than glorified. The terror, the loss, the suffering. It should be compulsary viewing for every child in school. I feel I learnt more about war in this and Saving Private Ryan than I ever did reading books about it in school.

With relatives who were in Austria during the war and fled to USA and UK, this film has an even more emotional effect on me. Every time I see Schindler cry, I want to cry myself.

It's miserable and emotional uplifting at the same time. There is good in every situation, somewhere.

As an avid movie goer I would have to say out of my cinematic movie experiance - 'Schindler's List' hits the top. I was captured throughout the film, even until the end credits when nobody made a sound or budged an inch, it'd make big boys cry. It's filmed in Black & White giving not only an athentic look into it, but of the couple of scenes of a girl in a red coat, this part was so tenderly moving and will remain with you.
This film is a lesson to all mankind that this dark chapter in the history of mankind should never happen again. It also celebrates the hero Oskar Schindler and Steven Speilburg has obviously gone into great lengths of trouble and research into the making of this film, and he is still helping the survivors of the Jews saved by Oskar Schindler by creating the Shoah Foundation.
The best of Steven Speilburg, the man's a genious! The film to watch before you die.

This is one of my favourite films, ever. It's beautifully shot and has superb performances from Neeson, Fiennes and Kingsley. The use of colour on the candle and red coat is excellent. There are several points which I break down into tears but overall it makes me think about the cruelty in this world and how it should NEVER happen again.

no one can fail to be moved by this wonderful film. the acting by all in involved was of the highest level and really brought home the horrors of the nazi holocaust. it is a film that i will watch again and again and they for me are few and far between.

Plot
Czech born, Schindler (Neeson) owns a factory in Poland where he exploits the cheap jewish labour found there. When he witnesses the atrocities of Aushwitz he creates a list - turning his factory into a safe haven and rescuing over 1,100 Jews.

Verdict
Necessary holocaust movie made for a Western audience. At times over sentimental when the subject matter hardly needs any dressing up, this is a beautifully crafted, hopeful movie.

An incredible film, so accurate if the records from Cracow, Auschwitz and Birkenau are anything to go on. Had the Nazis had their way, every Jewish man woman and child would have been eliminated and their culture would have become totally extinct. The sad thing is that similar things are still happening in many parts of the world, even after more than 60 years of knowledge of these events.

Very thought provoking. Very sad but a must see. Historically significant portrayal of a dreadful episode in history. We must make sure this can never happen again.

spielbergs greatest movie, when you finish watching it you just realise what a real hard time the war was to some. it will take your breath away

I don't think that these people should be forgotten about and what they went through. Liam Neeson plays this part wonderfully and I think it's an excellent portrayal of the events which happened. Not to be missed - Great movie!!!

My wife and I recently visited Krakow on a 5 day break and visited the Ghetto and passed by the forced labour camp and Schindler's factory. We also visited Auschwitz and Birkenau. We also have some friends in Holland whose family perished in Auschwitz.As a result we wanted to find out more and started to read up the jistory and personal experiences of survivors. We first saw the film when it first came out but, quite frankly, did not remember too much of it so we thought we would lkie to see it again.

We found the film to be deeply moving and quite graphically tried to capture the deprivations of the Jewish and Polish peoples trials during the second World War.

The DVD's were as new in a box as decribed and were good value.

Really great film, cant wait to show the kids, so they can appreciate what went on and what an attroscity really means.

Schindler's list is a very hard film to watch but extremely good at the same time! very moving. about 3hours long so make sure you have a pause button at the ready lol!

Schindler's List is Steven Spielberg's award-winning masterpiece. A profoundly shocking three hour long epic of the Holocaust. Its documentary authenticity vividly re-creates a dark, frightening period during World War II, when Jews in Nazi-occupied Krakow were first dispossessed of their businesses and homes, then placed in ghettos and forced labour camps in Plaszow, and finally resettled in concentration camps for execution. The violence and brutality of their treatment is realistic and horrific but I hope any one who see’s this film will realise it is only by knowing the truth that we can stop it happening again.

This is of course an astonshing film and must be one of the best films ever. Its message is clear and impactful, yet subtley told with out any overly emotional touches of flambouance.

It is also an important piece of education which must be seen in my opinion.

2 disc version. The film runs for 3hrs 7mins and is in black and white, with selected scenes in colour. The true story of Oscar Schindler, a member of the Nazi party, who saved the lives of more than 1,100 Jews. He started the war, profiting largly from the cheap labour of the Jews captured by the Germans. He was to later use all this profit to save their lives. A truly thought provoking and moving film.
The bonus material runs for 1hr 29mins and includes a documentary featuring eye witness experiences. Also a behind the scenes look at the organisation which has recorded the testimonies of survivors and witnesses of the Holocaust.

The reason I've bought it, because I'm Jewish, a part of my family was killed in the Holocaust, I wanted to have this movie in my collection! I've seen the movie couple of times before, but when I've saw this limited edition box set.
I'm really happy with it, as it was delivered quickly in an excellent condition!
I can advise it to anyone, from people who just simply interested to people who's been involved a bit of the story!

THIS DVD WAS ADVERTISED WITH THE PSP FILMS THATS WHY I PURCHASED IT THINKING IT WAS A PSP FILM I DECIDED TO KEEP IT ANYWAY

I have looking for this dvd in the shops , was not sucsessful so I looked on ebay!
The reson why I wanted this dvd was because my daughter watched it at school for her History lesson, she told me about it.
the qualaty of the dvd was extreemly good

fantastic movie, brilliantly made. Telling the true horror of what the Nazis did to the Jewish,polish community in the 2nd world war.

The family love true stories and having this on dvd is for us a must watch film. The length of film seems to mean you see different thing every time you watch it. this is the sort of film that needs preserving so the plight of the Jews during the war is not forgotten.

This is an unbelievable film, there are arguments about how film with issues of history can be made for profit, but this film is worth it!

Liam Neeson is superb in this, the artistry he portrays is superb and the acting is well words are speechless, the fact of this horrible chapter of which affected 89% of the countries of the world suggests that this film should be placed amongst the greats, people must watch this the subject and the acting is immense, this film will have you attached and will open your mind of the insanity of the world wars, this is one film which will have you talking about afterwards for a very long time.

THIS FILM WAS RECOMMENDED TO ME AND IT TURNED OUT TO BE AN EXCELLENT FILM BASED ON TRUE ACCOUNTS, I DONT USUALLY WATCH FILMS BUT THIS HAD ME HOOKED
