Scarface (DVD 2003)

There is nothing much that I can say about Scarface that my fellow reviewers haven't already said before me but I just wanted to express my admiration for this phenomenal film. Brian De Palma has crafted an absolute masterpiece which has a place on almost every mans dvd shelf.

During the 80's there was a huge influx of Cuban refugees into America trying to escape Fidel Castro's communist regime. Castro used this as an opportunity to get rid of the dregs of his jails permanently so thousands of crooks arrived in Miami. Amongst them was Tony Montana (Pacino). Tony and many others went straight to detention camps under the Miami freeways but Tony was soon on the streets after assassinating a fellow detainee as a favour to a rich Cuban businessman. He quickly becomes a well known, ruthless killer who eventually rises to the top and becomes a multi-millionaire cocaine kingpin. His bloody rise to power is a fascinating twist on the American dream. Eventually, as is often the case in gangster films, Tony destroys everything and everyone around him (including his best friend and his own sister) and is ousted from power by a vengeful Colombian Drugs baron.

Scarface looks dated now but I think the fashion, Moroder soundtrack and disco dancing add to the charms of the film. It is an absolute classic on par with The Godfather.

One of the best films ever to star Al Pacino as Tony Montana a ganglord kingpin whos starts from the bottom by being shipped in from cuba and works his way to the top by killing and selling drugs until he shows his true strenghth and hunger for power as he takes out the local druglords one by one! a drug frenzied crime spree with many famous lines and quotes which will be remebered forever a great classic! buy this one for sure you wont be dissapointed!

One of the best films ever made! It is certainly one of my favourites, second only to Pulp Fiction. A definite must for Pacino fans, as well as those into the blood and gor of gangster films. It is brilliantly filmed and the storyline is great, if a little over-the-top, but it wouldn't be the same if it was the norm. The acting is top class with some big names, such as Steven Bauer, Michelle Pfeiffer, and, of course, Al Pacino. It isn't a film for the faint-hearted though, with some pretty horrific violence, but if you can stand that it's well worth a watch.

one of the all time classic gangster movies. if you've never seen this film buy it from ebay. its a must see movie

I like this film because Al Pacino is one of my favourite actors, i like the story, the acting and the action. Its a classic gangster film and its one of the best gangster films ever made. I like everything about the film. I decided to buy it because it was very cheap, it cost me only £2.99 and the postage and packaging charge wasnt more then £1.00 so for £3.99 and i dont even have to leave the house and hunt for it, its a good bargain.

I love my Gangster/Mafia type films, which along with Martial Arts I rank as my favorite film category. There isn't much that I can really say about Scarface other than it is quite simply the BEST film I have ever seen. Bar none. Not even the Godfather or Goodfellas comes close to this film!
