Counterfeits are everywhere be on the look out.

I bought this item thinking that I would save a couple of pounds, but unfortunately it turned out that the seller was crooked and sent a counterfit item, he attempted to fob me off by saying the item was from the same factory but it was still counterfit and was substandard. I was only saving a small amount and it was not worth the risk, I managed to get a full refund and had to order from a retail store. It seems that Ebay does nothing to stop this sellers unless the company that sells the originals complain, To top it all off I left the seller negative feedback for selling counterfeit items and in return he left me negative feedback, Ebay should intervene and remove negative feedbacks from people who act in an illegal manner.

The moral of the story is that if you buy from Ebay you need to be aware of the piracy & counterfeiting issuses make sure you know where and how to look to check your item is genuine otherwise you could find a couple of months down the line that the product is a cheap version with no warranty.

FAKE Sandisk Extreme 111 4GB CF card
Review created: 15/08/07

I was looking to purchase a Compact Flash card with plenty of storage space along with a fast write speed coupled with a fast download to my computer [Mac]. The Extreme 111 4 GB CF card was the one I was advised to get.
I purchased IN GOOD FAITH the above mentioned card, by auction on Ebay, at a very discounted price.
I tested the card before I used it on a job and although it appeared to function properly it seemed slower than the cards I already had.
I took about 180 full res' "Raw" shots using the card, which it did record, but downloading took hours.
I decided to contact Sadisk directly to verify that the card was genuine or not. They confirmed that the CF card was not one of theirs [By number], and indeed it was A FAKE. They told me that they were aware that this counterfeiting was going on, but they didn't seem very concerned and there was nothing they could do for me.
Whilst the card was useable it certainly worries me and I cannot possibly use it again for fear of valuable work being lost, beside not fulfilling the job I wanted, regarding speed.
I'm appalled that the seller is getting away with this fraud on Ebay.

have still not received the card yet. What review? I wondering whether I have been scammed!Ebay must tightened its rule or scammers and dodgy traders and buyers. I have been ripped off a Sony P910 before and have people try to fleece my money. Two weeks ago I bid for a Sony Projector but seller when silent when bid was successful. The rate of bad trading is too high.

SanDisk Extreme® III 133x (4 GB) CF Card
Review created: 09/07/08

I bought this card for my new high resolution camera - as my 1GB were not big enough.
I searched through the ebay listings - searching only UK sellers and only UK sellers based in the UK to avoid buying a copy from China, Hong Kong etc etc.
I found this particular card from a UK based power seller.
When the card arrived (3 weeks later) the label on the card showed only a 2 GB capacity - not 4GB. The card would not fit in any of my 3 readers / ports.
The instruction manual was what appeared to be a photo copy - and had been assembled by a 4 year old during art class - text not aligned, some pages had not been cut and simply folded, the staple was not in the centre of the spine.
The card label ( which displayed 2gb not 4gb) had apparently been put on the wrong side of the card.
looking closely at the text of the label - the "X" in extreme did not match the font of the "X" on the front of the box, and also the text itself was not square.
The soft travel case was a bit too small to take the card in its plastic case, the writing on the front of the travel case was a faint washed out red - not a brilliant white like my others.
The plastic packageing in which the whole came had not been heat welded sealed but simply hinged together.
With all of the above seeming a little strange - I contacted Sandisk via their international help desk.
The first question they asked was for me to confirm the product number printed on the edge of the casing.....
to which i replied - "what number"
Every Sandisk product has a product number etched into the edge of the casing - unless it's a copy!!
I was informed by Sandisk to not use the card and return it immediatly to the vendor for a full refund. the card can and will damage the aparatus in which it is used, and data stored will soon become corrupt within a few weeks.
So in short - you buy cheap - you buy twice.
I will now, from now on, be visiting my high street store for such items.
It's a real shame that there are people spoiling this other wise great facility, and that no action is taken against them..

Photographers quandary, Ultra II vs. Extreme III/IV?
Review created: 02/08/08
by:
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

If you're an enthusiastic digital photographer then a quandary awaits, the decision between many different brands of flash memory and formats. Thankfully helpful advice makes decisions easier -- the format is going to be dictated by your camera body and usually falls to SDHC or CompactFlash, and if you need to be assured of a fast and reliable product, it generally falls to two reputable brands who've made their names selling fast memory to photographers:

Lexar
SanDisk

This review isn't intended to state which is better, the genuine article from either will keep you a happy photographer for many months and years to come. However it is intended to look at the speed of various products from SanDisk and take a holistic approach to doing a cost:benefit analysis - which is best?

Marketing from the flash vendors will always state you should go for the fastest and most expensive model, in the case of SanDisk this would probably be a toss-up between the Extreme IV or 'Ducati' cards -- but for all that dosh, what are you getting for your money, when you slap it into your camera?

... Well, erm, nothing much really :-( Unless you've forked out nearly £5,000 on a camera body it probably won't support UDMA and will be limited to PIO3/4, the speed which you'll be writing to that card will thus be constrained to around the 8-15MB/second range - those really high end cards make *big* marketing hay out of the fact they can handle 40MB/second.

Benchmarks on real camera gear:
http://www.robgalbraith.com/bins/multi_page.asp?cid=6007

Even the most modern bodies like a Canon EOS 40D or a Nikon D300 do *not* support UDMA which limits the speed the internal buffer can write to flash. Therefore, unless you're a professional photographer (in which case you probably don't need to be reading this!) who needs to regularly and rapidly swap memory and dump to a laptop before formatting for re-use, save your hard-earned money and purchase the more sensible option (Ultra II or Extreme III) and spend the rest on lenses or a nice holiday to take more shots ;)

1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I bought this card on ebay, when I start to use it on holiday was quite slow compare to my other cards, later found out was a fake thanks to another ebayer
(bj_the_dj_uk) who sent me an email that said: (He has taken good money from you and sent you a FAKE CARD. These cards should say Made in China, if your card says MADE IN TAIWAN IT IS FAKE)
The replay from the vender was: Taiwan is a part of china. The card is from original factory . it has good performance.
We can grarantee the quality of our products.
Cheers!
flebeee

Asian SANDISK REPLAY: we have determined
that your card is not an authentic SanDisk product.

I got no money back, be very aware of this people.

I hope ebay will stop allowing this people selling fakes on ebay.

HOPE this will help you.

  Reliable and fast.

Ignore the reviews rating this card low because people have ended up with fakes! They're supposed to be reviewing the CF card, not their transaction! If you get a genuine card then you'll be very pleased; I've always found SanDisk cards to be fast and reliable, and these are no different. Well-built too.

  Ebay review
Review created: 08/07/07

I like the cost of the product and the ease of paying for goods with Pay Pal no no fuss, i dislike the fact that i think that many times people get others to bid goods up but i have a limit to stick too, and have had no complaints with any of the people i have bought from so far they have been very good, and if loose just bid for other product the same. I needed the memory for my holiday so wanted the best price and got it and quick delivery, good seller.

I saved a lot of money buying a CF card via eBay compared to the regular retail price. It is an original product and was exactly that what was being described. It was a swift and problem free transaction.
