I love this phone. The screen is just amazing - large, bright, 65,000 colours
One of the advantages of the clamshell design is that you can fit in a much larger screen without the phone becoming over-sized.
This screen is huge and is perfect for using the camera. The pictures look just as good on the phone as they do when you upload them to a PC. You have to understand that no camera phone comes anywhere near a proper digital camera at present.
Menus on the V200 are dead easy.
Battery life is good. I can go for nearly a week, making a couple of calls each day, taking a dozen photos, etc. If you're a big user, maybe you need to charge every couple of days. Big deal - takes about 1 hour to fully charge. I don't do much texting, so can't comment on that. Phone doesn't have Java or Bluetooth, so if you want these features don't buy the phone. Duh. Overall, this is such a nice phone.
It has no negative points at all.

this mobile is so simple to use, easy menu system, smoothe flip action prevents accidental calls being made, with large internal screen + large numbers on screen when dialling.can customise all settings including how long the screen light stays on. a brilliant phone for all ages and better still for the elderly.

  Samsung V200 Reliability
Review created: 10/11/09

Got 2 ages ago --6 years on (we have one each) carried and used nearly everyday on pay as you go 02 top up card its very cheap and no monthly bills but the best feature is the seperate charger it sits at home with 4 batteries---just replace a charged battery once every two or three days and put the other on charge --I would never be without it now.--it even worked from abroad !

Great basic mobile. Calls, text, camera all easy to use. Flip style, and small enough for pocket or handbag.

V200, Great look, easy to use, suit older people

There's a definite following for this phone. Witness the ebay bidding, many achieve high prices. The appearance is great, practically unique nowadays but my phone came with a fault and the camera wasn't brilliant. The phone was an Olympic special edition and we're not talking Beijing so was 4 yrs old+.

I did like the all action Hollywood alert light, the ease of navigation which would also suit older people, the good volume level, the fact that I couldn't take it off lock inadvertently with the clamshell design, ease of removing the back compared with Nokias, the time showing when closed. I also liked the longevity of the finish compared with the Nokia version, the 6101 which soon gets scuffed. I'd had a couple of those which both died suddenly, hence the change to the V200.

The phone had a good selection of easily audible ring and alert tones. The battery life was rather short and frequent charging was necessary. The camera on this phone was pretty poor and although the spec. emphasised it's brilliant colours, this one was wishy washy with faint vertical lines showing. Perhaps I was unlucky.

All the functions appeared to work initially and I spent some time deleting old sent texts, received texts, many contacts and a gallery of pics which had saved to the phone cards and bobbed up once I inserted my sim. The texts showed that all functions were not working properly before I received the phone. I discovered it was locked on upper case predictive and it wasn't possible to change to abc mode. The phone was therefore of no use to me because I text 95% of the time and didn't want to be accused of shouting.

I found someone who didn't text, a 99 yr.old relative who likes to make an odd phone call so I bought another Orange sim and gave the phone to her.

Because of the poor camera and the subsequent very high prices being achieved at Christmas, I decided not to go for another V200 and got an S.390 slider instead at the same cost which suits me fine.
