A good phone with some very nice features

I've got the Hello Kitty branded version of this and unlike most Hello Kitty phones, it's quite tasteful. The HK aspect means that there's a small picture of her on the back and her name inscribed on the case in a couple of places and there's a collection of HK wallpaper, but that's about it. Phew.
But on to the phone itself. The first thing that strikes you when you pick it up is just how thin it is. It's got to be the thinnest phone I've ever handled. The large screen is very clear and the interface is pretty good. I've always liked Nokia phones for their UI, but this is the first non-Nokia interface I've actually liked.
The buttons are probably the only low point. The keypad is fine and the five way navigation roundel is fine too, but there are four touch-sensitive buttons flanking the screen and they're a bit too sensitive. You can alter the sensitivity of them, but it's a choice between unresponsive and hair-trigger. Several times, I've accidentally made a call or accidentally exited from something just because my finger was near one of those buttons. But you learn to live with it so that becomes less of a problem.
It's got a basic music player that isn't exciting, but is reliable enough to play MP3's, etc. And there's an FM radio which is suprisingly good, but requires the use of headphones (they act as an aerial). And that's a slight problem, because you have to use Samsung's headphones as there's no standard 3.5mm jack socket. I've got a £50 pair of in-ear silenced Sennheiser headphones, but I'm forced to use the £5-feeling Samsung ones. Grrr.
It handles the internet quite nicely and emails are as simple as SMS messages, once you've got it set up. Which isn't necessarily easy because the manual's completely rubbish. It tells you nothing about most of the phone's features. I even scoured Samsung's site, but couldn't find any better documentation.
The ringer can be set to be very loud and thus the alarm is too. There are four individual alarms that can be set in addition to a regular one. The camera's not bad either, although the flash is LED rather than xenon.
All in all, it's a lovely phone that I enjoy using. I just wish I could plug my own headphones in and that the touch-sensitive buttons were a little less... uh, touch sensitive.
