The Samsung E900 is a stylish slider, The Phone has an almost identical feature set to the Samsung D600, which is a much thicker and heavier phone.
The E900 also has a Chocolate beating 2-megapixel camera, speakerphone function and an expandable microSD slot.
Other features include infrared, Bluetooth, SMS and MMS messaging, a voice recorder, polyphonic ring tones, a calendar, a to do list, a scheduler, a clock, world time, an alarm, a timer, a stopwatch, a calculator, a currency converter and Java games.

Unfortunately, the E900 isn't completely perfect, The 2-megapixel camera takes a while to load and when you do take a picture there is a significant amount of shutter lag, so the pictures come out blurry if you move your hand. Also the flash doesn't work properly and makes things look blue rather than bright.

This is a great little phone & looks really stylish. The only problem that I had was that I kept catching the soft touch 'cancel' button & had to restart the action that I was in the middle of... however this could have been due to my long fingernails. The only reason I sold this phone was because I received a free upgrade on renewing my contract.

First of the phone is hard to use as the main buttons are touch screen so u may touch other buttons. As soon as u get use to it which doesnt take long its fine to use. I have droped the phone many of times and its been fine. The battery on full lasts me around 2days. The camera is of good quility but you have to hold it still whilst taking a photo other wise ocassionaly it smuges. The fone is easy to text. In genral the phone is really good and worth the money.

E900 : The King of the Sliders?
Review created: 20/07/07

14 of 16 people found this review helpful.

To give some background, I have owned this phone for just less than a year, as it came into my possession for free as a result of a new pay monthly deal.

It came with all the necessary cables, including a rather nifty software bundle and USB cable, for moving number, pictures, or whatever onto your PC/laptop. The frist thing I noticed, was its VERY elegant styling; something I would be proud to pull out of my pocket, whereas my old nokia 3510i didn't quite cut it in that aspect.

Having left it to charge for the necessary timespan (as one does do with all new phones), I put in the sim, and away I went. Nothing weird about the installation, it was all very simple.

As for actual handling, it was all very easy; I thought I might have a problem with the touch keys, as some other people had had problems, but to this day, I've never got frustrated with the buttons; once or twice, you will miss the key you were trying to push, or accidentally close the menu, but it is not a big deal (maybe I'm just more patient than other people ;-) )

The battery life seems reasonable for a modern day phone; my friend has had much worse a time with his blackberry as far as battery life is concerned; I probably need to charge every 2-3 days, and that's with occasional use, not constant talk-time.

As far as the phones software is concerned, it was very much one of the selling points of the phone for me, because the interface is important to me from both an aesthetic and utile point of view. It is VERY easy to navigate the phone, and the address book is VERY usable (unlike motorola's, in my opinion).

The screen is large and has very good definition and brightness.

Also, you CAN use your own mp3's as a ring tone, which is a bonus, as some phones do not let you do that; the music player is very pleasing to the eye, and there is enough space on the phone without an extra memory stick to put on about 12 tracks.

The camera on the phone is very good, as is the video capture...

OVERALL, I would recommend this phone to just about anyone, though I think you may struggle with the buttons if you have large fingerpads. This phone is a great catch, and though my contract ends in one month, I am not yet persuaded that I want to change my phone, and may sell any upgrade I receive instead.

N.B. I have not yet used one of the new U Series phones from Samsung, which are a thinner range, and somewhat, the successors to the E range; presumably the build quality is just as good, and I know for a fact the slider phone in the U range has a very large screen, and is slightly taller than the e900, though slimmer.

  Brilliant Little Phone!
Review created: 29/06/07
9 of 10 people found this review helpful.

I've had this phone since December and its fantastic I love it. Its easy to use and easy to understand. It has a good little camera and loads of funky features like "view text messages in Vivid mode" which integrates little pictures into the text messages, its small and compact and the touch pad is brilliant.

Its a strong phone I have found and repeated accidental droppings etc have done nothing more than scratch it. It was also accidentally dropped in my daughters potty and after an hour ontop of a towel on the radiator it was as good as new with no lasting damage.

I would definately recommend this phone everytime as it has proved to be a brilliant hard wearing little phone for me and I cant fault it in anyway.

I wanted a new Samsung E900 Mobile but could not get one anywhere as they where all sold out, so i decided to go for this one on Ebay as it was only 4 months old and still under warranty and the reciept was posted with the phone, which was very handy if anything should have gone wrong with the phone before the warranty ran out. The Samsung E900 mobile was in perfect condition, infact it was more like a brand new one rather than a four month old phone. The phone is so much better with the touch screen and very easy to understand all the things you can do on it. There is nothing i dislike about the phone.

  Great Little Phone!
Review created: 23/08/07
7 of 8 people found this review helpful.

I have had 3 of these phones. Not because they keep breaking but because I love them so much! I dropped the first one in water, after a month, so went out & bought a new one. I had that for about 5 months & it started to get a bit worn cosmetically so I bought another! If thats not an indication of a good phone, I dont know what is! I've never bought the same phone more than once before!

As a warning, the touch sensitive keypad takes some getting used to, but once you've used it for a little while, you get used it it, & its a doddle!

  Samsung SGH-E900 (e900) Slide Phone
Review created: 15/05/07(updated 07/07/07)

This is a great little phone, it encorporates everything a great mobile should have: text, phone, camera, mp3 etc.

downfalls: the battery life is very short, probably only about 3 days! the phone also scratches very easily! so i reccomend a protective case for it!

good bits! 2.0 mega pixel camera, slide phone, touch sensitive buttons, expandable memory. the menu also has a 'memory' it remebers the last item you used and navigates to that item first.

overall a good phone, but needs regular battery charging!

  All pinky and twinkly.
Review created: 01/09/07
6 of 8 people found this review helpful.

I shall use ebay's suggestions....

Why you bought it?

I went out one evening with some of my family, my family that evening consisting of my mother and father in law, my husband, our 4 children and my good self. Sitting down for a meal with 4 children is no easy task so I was up and down for various reasons.....peeling my son off a table, dragging my daughter away from the ice cream machine she was about to help herself to, stopping the baby from chewing up the menu etc.... So, it came as a shock to me when I took my beady eye off the nappy bag, situated under the highchair, some low life took it upon themselves to open the bag and steal my mobile phone from it, how lovely of them. So, I went on ebay to buy a cheap phone to replace it.......then I thought I'd be hip and happening with a pink and twinkly phone. I'm so down with the youth, you see.

What you like most about it?

It's very easy to use, which is always a plus when it comes to technology coupled with nappy brain. I love the colour, it's a really pretty little phone and as I'm told is standard with most Samsungs, it has LOADS of twinkly, useless noises for just about every fuction which irritates the hell out of my husband but I love it, so there.

What do you dislike about it?

The touch screen function can be a little...ok, very annoying if you accidently phone somebody and it's in your pocket. I have got around this by putting an invalid number under aaa in the phonebook so it won't waste call credit. Also, when I've faffed about with texts (deleted, saved, whatever) I've accidently phoned people because I put my finger just over the wrong place on the phone.

All in all, a great girly phone that I recommend.

These phones were selling 18months ago for £250 if you were lucky enough to get your hands on one. The main problem is the touch sensitive keypad which can be irritating as you can very easily skip to another function by mistake so its not for the impatient buyer. Apart from that with an excellent range of features and capacity for a memory card etc it is a very good buy at the £40 to £50 prices currently being fetched on E Bay.

I've owned this phone for around 18 months now. It's pretty easy to use and i like the slide design.
I think it has a great screen and the camera, although not the top of the range, is quite good. The only problem with the camera i find is you have to keep your hand pretty still when taking a photo, or it gets blurred.
The touch screen buttons on the front work really well, but an annoying problem is accidently catching the cancel button when trying to take a picture or writing a text message. When making a call the touch screen automatically locks, so you can't cancel a call by mistake. When you are finished talking it takes a while to get used to unlocking the keypad, before being able to end the conversation!
It's simple to connect to your p.c and you can easily transfer photos and videos.
Overall i'd say 4 out of 5 for this phone. I'd recomend it's slim and simple design, but be cautious of the touch buttons.

  SGH-E900 - Its great!
Review created: 13/05/07
by:
5 of 6 people found this review helpful.

The samsung e900 is a great handset with a great camera thats better than any other 2 million pixel camera I have seen. The camera takes wide range of colours and gives the option to change style or add a frame.

Music quality crystal clear and is pretty good regarding volume and its highest its very hearable. Theres also the tv output feature which is very practical as people needs are constantly changing and they want more than phone calls from their mobile phones.TV output means you can connect the phone directly to a tv set or AMP system via the tv out A/V cable thats provided.

Overall the E900 is a brilliant fone in all ways. The only downside which i could find is how sensitive the touch sensitive keys are, but this could be me being clumsy. The options on the phone are the best. I went from a d600 to this and I would never go back.

  Samsung SGH-E900 Mobile quick review
Review created: 30/06/08
by:
4 of 4 people found this review helpful.

Design
In the phone's press release, Samsung extol the virtues of what they call the "futuristic touchscreen" navigation keys, which do away with "the need for excessive protruding buttons". While we'd argue that a protruding button or two is a necessity if you want a functional device, the fact that the keys lie in wait below the glossy surface -- awakening in a blaze of white backlight upon sliding the phone up -- does give the phone a smooth and sexy look.

Features
While the Chocolate had a relatively wussy feature set, a wealth of inclusions lurk beneath the E900's serene ebony surfaces. A 2-megapixel flash camera and 80MB of internal memory with microSD expansion slot compare favourably with the specs of the LG model -- which sports a 1.3-megapixel flash-free cam and non-expandable 128MB of space. One thing to note if you plan on storing a heap of songs: the E900 does not come with a microSD card.

Performance
As snazzy as they look, the touch-sensitive keys can cause problems. As we found with LG's Chocolate, it takes a while to adjust to using them -- instead of keeping your thumb on the phone and applying pressure, you need to lift it off for commands to register. The touch screen is very sensitive, and when you're typing a message or dialling a number, your thumb can often stray to the cancel key on the right. This can result in the instant deletion of that ultra-witty SMS you've been composing, which is quite the patience-tester.

The E900 does have some positive qualities -- the hand-friendly size, sub-menus and vibrant display are chief among them -- but touch-key issues, texting troubles and shutter lag brought its score down.
