1 Big problem for me with the D900's is you cannot set your own text message tones, you can only choose from 4 or 5 set ones which are down right boring. Apart from this its a great phone and as a mobile shop sales consultant we see very few of these back faulty. One thing to be careful of with all new samsungs is the screens, we see more of these phones back with customer damaged screens than any other make/model. LCD's are very fragile and the slightest knock can crack the delicate crytals and cause bleeding under the casing, this can even happen with no visible damage to the outter casing. But as I have said, appart from these things the phones are very good.

This is the first phone I have had thats not a Nokia, and have found it to be Supreme.

Not omly is it light, slim and really easy to use, it has a 3meg Camera that is just perfect. The Blue Tooth headset is one of the smallest and best on the market.

Battery lasts about 5 days, and can buy extra on here for about £1.50.

Graphics are the best, and now is my main diary. 3 of my collegues have them and we are always finding new things to be used on it.

Overall great phone. Obviously appearance is the first thing you notice with a handset, and the D900i looks so nice, and much better than the normal black D900. A lot of people have complained about the camera being blurred, but it's not if you let it focus properly! The camera itself is really clear and produces good pictures. The mp3 player is great, it has good sound quality and it's so easy to put files onto it. Some people have also complained about the buttons for texting, but I think they're almost perfect. The # key is not the easiest to access because of the bottom lip, but the rest are fine. The message tones cannot be changed, but the ones provided are fine, and are what you'd expect to find as default. The handset itself feels good in your hand, the weight and size are great, and you can tell it's quality built, even from the smooth slide mecanism. People have also moaned about battery life, but i've used non stop for the past few days and it's only just lost a bar of charge. For the features it has, the battery is fine. Well worth getting!

Nice phone, but I keep cutting calls off!

I like the look of this phone and the camera is great. I've always used Nokia and prefer the simple way they work, however I'm finally getting used to my Samsung. The one thing I absolutely hate about it is the touch sensitive keys - I'm constantly cutting people off and opening functions that I don't want to. It's irritating but other than that, the phone is good.

The slimmest slider in the world is already on the market. Samsung D900 (12.9 mm thick when closed) offers almost maximum equipment. It has also been given a special final touch: a 3 megapixel camera and a superb display. Now try to imagine it all in a stylish sliding body. The price, however, is rather high.

Key Features:
Supreme sliding construction
Stylish design of mere 12.9 mm thickness
Brilliant display with QVGA resolution
Comfortable keypad
3 megapixel camera with auto focus
Multi-field phonebook with thousand entries
Internal memory of nearly 60 MB, extendable through microSD cards
Applications for viewing Office documents
TV out
GPRS and EDGE Class 10
MP3 player
Bluetooth

Main Disadvantages:

Body is made of cheap-looking plastic material
Significant resistance of the sliding mechanism
No 3G
The phone needs to be activated to visualize missed events
No ringing profiles
Limited melody choice for SMS alerts
Navigation key's center opens the WAP browser when the phone is on stand-by
Calls cannot be filtered
Java applications cannot be transferred via Bluetooth
Images cannot be saved straight to the memory card
No FM radio
No Infrared port
Fingerprints are visible on the display

Samsung D900
Mobile phones seem to have gone on a diet for good. The slim design first invented by Motorola and applied in its Motorola RAZR V3 model has become very popular among other manufacturers, of which some are slower, while others are even faster than the pioneer. There is no doubt that Samsung is the one who embraced the slim idea to the max. In a short period it has launched a slim model (being also the slimmest ever) in each mobile category existing on the market. After the ultra-slim classic model Samsung X820 and the clamshell Samsung D830 now Samsung is presenting the slimmest slider phone ever: Samsung D900.
Samsung D900 was first presented to the public at the CeBIT fair in March this year as Samsung D870. Later however, the manufacturer decided to change its denomination to D900, which the Koreans thought suited Samsung's ultra-slim line better.
This new Samsung model links to the famous and pretty successful Samsung D500 and D600, and more precisely to their design and functional equipment. Yet, Samsung D900 abounds in changes and improvements. Closed the phone looks like a dark flat square. Its dimensions are 104 x 51 x 13 mm and it weighs 85 g and is thus able to hide into the front pocket of your shirt. Samsung D900 is a little bit wide, which is however compensated by its extreme slimness.
All covers are made of plastic, except for the battery one. Along with matt plastics the manufacturer has also applied black glossy plastics - on top and bottom of the front cover, which make the phone look more vivid. Yet, we find these materials much too cheap-looking for the category the phone belongs to. A bit more of metal details would have suited it better.
The phone is only 13 mm thick Samsung D900 brings no crucial surprises in terms of design. It is basically a "flatter D600". Decorative silver elements have been applied moderately: a band above the speaker, a frame, the central area of the navigation key, and the lateral buttons. On the left side of the phone you will find a dual volume-control key; on the right side is the key that activates themsung D900 brings no crucial surprises in terms of design. It is basically a "flatter D600".

  Samsung SGH-D900 Mobile Phone
Review created: 15/07/07

After the glorious success of the RAZR-line of Motorola that changed the global meaning of the word “slim” and the perception of how a gadget should look, Samsung took that idea and developed it in their own way, designing the Ultra Series phones, which we've already loved thanks to the World's slimmest phone - the X820 Ultra. The SGH-D900 is the slider of the family and is half-inch thick black unit that stands out of the crowd with straight lines and elegant design, combined with multimedia functionality including one of the best cameras in a mobile phone nowadays. With its stylish look and small dimensions and weight, the D900 Ultra is targeted to both male and female users that want a high-end multimedia-oriented device, that doesn't suffer from bulky size or childish appearance. In the extraordinary-designed box, typical for the Ultra phones of Samsung, the handset comes bundled with manuals, CD with software, charger, stereo headphones and USB cable for Computer synchronization.

Facts You should consider before Purchase
Review created: 24/06/07
6 of 7 people found this review helpful.

The samsung D900 is overall a very attractive phone. However before purchasing the phone there are certain things you should know. It is important that these pro's and cons are carefully noted before the investmenting

Pro's -
1. It is an extremely slim slider phone. One of the very few successful slim sliders. It easily fits in to most pocket sizes

2.A user friendly keypad. This is my personal opinion after using the phone for a month. The keypad is very flat but highly responsive. The keys are very well lit with an equal distribution of white light

3. The screen has a good resolution, though not as good as many of the phones released very recently. Menu sysmtem can be very convinient once you start getting used to it

Cons -
1. The phone has a very plastic feeling to it. It feels as if you are carrying a toy. The built quality of the phone is not up to standard. The slide can get wobbly aftr a few weeks use.

2. The screen of the phone also tends to crack for no apparent reason. This has been the case for especially phones produced during the late 2006.

3. The camera quality of the phone cannot be compared to its competitors such as the n73 or the k800i. So if your getting it for its camera, I advice you to think twice

4. The music quality of the phone is average. And the music player is not very user friendly

Conclusion -
Overall it is a good phone with certain weeknesses which may or may not be of concernt to buyers. During the time I used the phone I experiance no software glitches or any other problem with the phone except for its build quality.

  Samsung D900 - still a good phone!
Review created: 15/11/07
5 of 5 people found this review helpful.

For: Good looks, slim, some nice touches like the 'living' wallpapers
Against: Prone to 'white screen' problems, screen prone to breakages, camera could be better, can't set personalised text message tones, number keys a bit small?

OK, there are quite a few 'againsts' in that list but I am a fan of this phone! Despite the fact it's an older design now, it still looks good and can still cut it with the latest phones. The theme wallpapers are a nice touch, they change depending on whether it's day or night, the skyline gets cloudier as the signal gets weaker, and then disappear when it gets bluer, and you even get a plane trailing yellow smoke or fireworks on the screen when you get a text! It's a nice slim phone, though not as slim as the current U600 which superseded this phone.

The camera on the phone is a good one, though when compared to the Sony Ericsson K810i or K800i, or Nokia's N95 it's a bit disappointing, not quite as sharp as the former offerings, and in lower light needs a steady hand as it's all too easy to blur photos. I've had a couple of D900s too, and found that some don't/won't autofocus as well, I'd checked settings and the like and they didn't autofocus for love nor money, though I've got one now and that focusses fine, possibly depends on what firmware the phone's running? I've also found that the keypad is a little small, could just be my fat fingers but I've found myself pressing neighbouring keys when texting - though otherwise they keys have a nice feeling and a positive action.

Overall, this phone is still great, available for bargain basement prices as it's been discontinued, or a good secondhand choice. Just be careful of 'white screen' problems which tend to plague these phones, which are usually caused by a faulty screen ribbon (which connects the top/bottom parts of the phone) which can wear out in use or get damaged by abuse or sliding the phone open/closed too much. And look after that LCD - the rather flimsy plastic fascia covering the screen is not very substantial and it's all too easy to crack the screen!

SAMSUNG SGH-D900

This is a great little slim slide phone which has many great features. The Samsung D900 is one of the most stylish phones out there availabe in the mobile industry. The phone has a 60mb internal memory and also includes a memory card slot which enables you to put in your own memory card, which may include your favourite music, video and all types of media. The phone itself weights only an astongshing
83g. Other features of the phone include: Quadband, Bluetooth, Polyphonic/mp3 ringtones, speakerphone, An amazing superfine 3.0 megapixel camera, Java games, Calculator, Calendar and it also has an alarm. All round this is a great phone the only slight fault it tends to have is that it is very fragile which means the screen can be easily cracked, so you must be careful were you put your phone.

In the description it states the phone is used, unlocked and comes complete with car charger, software, and adapter. I received the phone and adapter but nothing else. I am still waiting for the car charger and software, the seller is not replying to e mails.

To top it all off, the phone was locked, the handset had been locked. It cost me extra to get the handset unlocked.

I will never use this seller again, felt totally ripped off!!

This is one of the nicest mobiles I've owned. It's incredibly sleek and slim, and looks great. The screen is amazingly bright and the colours fantastic, which is perfect for the 3 megapixel camera. Sound on the MP3 player is incredible. All this, and the battery life doesn't seem to suffer.

Absolutely a fantastic mobile.

I love this phone, it's slim, elligant and has great features. The 3mp camera gives excellent quality photos. The phone is slim and light so easily fits into pockets or handbags etc discretely. The phone automatically locks so no worrys about calling people when the phones in your bag etc. A previous review commented on how the touch sensitive buttons caused problems, id like to clarify that the samsung d900 does not have the touch sensitive keys, this is the e900!

Overall this phone is top of the range and id highly recommend it. The battery life is excellent and sound and colour quality brilliant.

I never used this phone but i recently bought one for my mom. It's a super slim handset & the sliding system has made it more attractive. Price is also not so high. I think you can get a brand new D900 from ebay by £50 to £80. It has a 3.2 megapixel camera which is enough to take a good quality pic.
