Great piece of equipment, very well made, excelent touch screen but i would highly recommend buying the keyboard/organiser pack as you will find it makes life alot easier and not really a great deal bulkier to carry about, and will soon get frustrated using it without it especially if you intend to do alot of letters etc. The other frustration is that there is no mouse control button on the unit which would make life easier instead of having to use the touch screen all the time. The quality of the display is superbly clear but don't believe what you read about the superb srs sound with sereo speakers as it really isn't that great to be honest, it does the job but i wouldn't sat its a great deal better than a good quality mobile phone, all in all i would recommend one of these and am more than happy with mine, its portable, fast, looks and works great, well spec'd etc and as it runs propper windows so there is loads of software unlike a pda for example

The Q1 does in fact have a mouse button on the facia - not brilliant but it's there, also this is an ultra mobile pc - why on earth anyone would like to use it to type a lot of letters is beyond me, it's not designed for that. But if you want to keep in touch or search online for local info in places unfamiliar to you then this is the kit for you. I even disagree about the SRS sound quality, it is far better than destop pc's and size for size it has very good bass response. As far aas it being not much better than a mobile phone, that's rubbish it works great with Skype having built in speakers and dual microphones. So take the Q1 as what it is an ultra mobile that isd capable of far more than anything else on the market.

If you are thinking about buying one of these, don't. Just buy it! Outstanding machine, every bit as good as a laptop and in many ways a lot better. It is a tablet, so the touch screen is very handy. It is a slate, so you can use just the stylus and journal. It is a voice recorder - in STEREO.

It is a full windows Xp machine in its own right and with the bundled USB keyboard with mouse, the bundled Folio case and the ton of other stuff that is standard, you have a portab le office. This is like the electronic filofax you always wanted and about the same size. It also replaces both desktop and laptop PC. Having a reasonable size 40Gb hard drive, a modest 512mb ram and a very good screen, this is really a great gadget.

It comes bundled with 2 batteries, a standard one and a long-life one. The latter giving about 5hours use easily. The whole package just oozes quality and cleverness. Very well designed, astheticly pleasing, plug and play out of the box and not, as commented by the Gadet show, slow at all. I have loaded office 2007 on mine and have watched a full AVI movie on it without the slightest glitch or frame dropped (I use GOM player).

To sum up, this is worth every penny of the average price of £400 for this. Make sure it is the full bundle with keyboard and portfolio case. You will not be disappointed. Once the penny drops that this really is as good as a laptop, as good as a tablet, as good as a slate and as good as a desktop all in one, these will get harder to source I suspect. A really, really top buy and 100% recommended.

The Q1 is great. Best thing I have bought in years. For me this does want the larger laptops can do but the Q1 is easy to take around. I bought a better battery that lasts 4-5 hours ( can be bought on ebay for around £50 ) can now watch two movies without any problems. The Wifi is very very good. Have used it here in London and also in Vietnam and Thailand for the internet, email while I was on holiday. Download my photos onto it while on holidays then sent them in emails to friends using the free Wifi hotspots in Vietnam and Thailand while drinking cold beer.

the 7' screen is perfect for internet browsing and watching movies. WiFi has a very good signal. The machine is relatively small and handy.

But: 1.must have an extended battery to run for 5+ hours. 2.must have its original keyboard/track point to work better.
