I have about three Samsung DVD Players/Recorders in the house. Simply because they work best with each other. For example if I record something upstairs my mum & dad can borrow & play it downstairs. I have sometimes found that Samsung DVDs are not always compatible with other makes - which is a pain & which is why I tend to stick to Samsung.
The recording is fine & you get plenty of different speeds at which you can record (the maximum for any DVD is 8 hours)
This has Freeview built in but I have yet to see that working.
Pretty happy with the product so far!
