Executively produced by Pet Shop Boys' Neil Tennant, 'Release The Stars' sees Wainwright striving to mature as a composer and performer, yet the album still retains his trademark musical mixture of unsurpassed grandeur and haunting simplicity. Features guest appearances from Richard Thompson, Joan As Policewoman and Sian Phillips.

I'm yet to award this the best Rufus album but only because, unlike others such as the "Want" twins, many of the tracks don't jump out at you on first/second listen. However, believe me they will eventually!
One example being Nobody's Off The Hook. A great melody and even better lyric. The opener is a typical broadway show stopping romp with even a Beatle-esque segment that is best heard at full volume!
