Roxette have recorded this album mostly throughout the Joyride world tour. Even though you will find 4 live recordings on this album, it is not a live album only. Filled with a few live recordings and mostly songs recorded at different places around the world, this is a Tourism album, hence the title. Whenever Roxette felt inspired to record a new song and no recording studio was around, hotel rooms were changed into temporary recording studios or an empty night club was used for recording purposes. Even when necessary instruments were not available, this band knew how to help themselves by using suitcases as drums (As heard in ‘Here comes the weekend’) etc.
It is the uniqueness of provisionary studios, the international inspiration and influence of countries and cities they traveled to that make this a truly breathtaking and refreshing album. In my opinion this album includes one of the most sensuous songs Roxette have ever recorded, namely; ‘Never is a long time’ – With lyrics: ‘Softly angels bow and cry, in the stillness of the night..’ sung by Maries aspirating, almost haunting voice.
12 years after the release, this album is still a constant companion to my stereo and this should be the strongest testimony of my review.
