if this doesn't get you up and playing air guitar, nothing will! i love this album, class musicians, great music - a classic and one i would highly recommend to anyone looking to expand their rock collection, or learning rock guitar. guitar playing at it's superb best from one of the best and sadly no longer with us. an inspiring performance that modern, younger musicians should listen to and take note. rory shows us all how it's done and he does it extremely well. modern, younger rock performers just don't do it for me any more after listening to rory. ye gods! i sound like my parents on one of their "the old un's are the best, don't make music like they used to" moans. i have to say tho' the old un's are the best and this album is over 30 years old but still sounds as fresh and exciting as when it was first recorded.buy it! buy it! buy it! you won't be disappointed

The general view is that 'Irish Tour' is Rory's best live album but I have always thought 'Live in Europe' is just as good if not better in some respects, and sometimes underrated, not getting the publicity it deserves.
It's got a good selection of his playing styles - the electric rock of 'Laundromat', acoustic on 'Pistol Slappper Blues' and (what I've always believed to be but may be wrong) mandolin on 'Going to My Home Town'.
He was certainly at his peak when it was recorded.
If ever I want cheering up this is a good album to put on, right from when I first bought it on vinyl in the early 70s !
It's a cliche but if you are a Rory fan you should already have this, if not, then buy it and see what he can do.
It was a sad day when he died.
