Superb compilation of hits including such crowd-pleasers as Brown Sugar and Start Me Up. The sound quality on these old recordings is not brilliant, however.

ITS ONLY ROCK N ROLL BUT I LIKE IT

  Only lifetime compilation; needs reissued
Review created: 12/11/09

The best value pound for pound compilation of the Stones. The early period of the Stones is well served with good compilations such Hot Rocks, Rolled Gold Plus and the triple London Singles. Sadly the latter period which includes the early Seventies period onwards to the present day has no great compilations. This cd is the only one that straddles the two periods. It also includes some new songs.

Sadly this cd is no longer widely available in the shops. It is time it was reissued or a new more comprehensive latter day compilation was related which would go nicely with Rolled Gold Plus. Sadly copyright issues currently prevent fans from getting a really good package which covers all periods apart from this cd.

The Stock Photo is the wrong colour scheme.

What can I say....? The Rolling Stones have written a song for everyone, there must be a Stones song buzzing around in each persons head. My favorite being 'Angie' as I just adore the lyrics and guitars. This is a MUST HAVE album for any music lover, particularly if your a Stones lover.
Saved to my hard-drive for storage purposes, as I do not want to lose this album :)

  A GENUINE GREATEST HITS PACKAGE
Review created: 14/01/09

I purchased this the same week as I got my hands on a copy of 'Rolled Gold +' The marvelous 40 tracks compilation that covers the first 8 years of the band...
The biggest question from myself, was what were the major differences between both compilations.. An additional 30 years of material would seem to be the simple answer. Though filling out disc two (70's onwards), to the same level of quality attained on the first disc (or both discs on Rolled Gold+') is questionable.. Overall it's a better compilation as it has a lot more to choose from. It also features genuine classics such as 'Angie', 'Miss You', 'It's Only Rock n' Roll', 'Beast Of Burden', 'Tumbling Down', 'Undercover Of The Night', and my personal favourite from the late 70's 'Emotional Rescue', which still grooves along in an equisate manner... Though you would be hard pressed to call several of the tracks 'classics'. A problem you couldn't associate with the Decca laden first disc that contains literally, '20 classic' tracks. All the way from the stunning opening number 'Street Fighting Man', through 'Gimme Shelter', 'Satisfaction', 'Honky Tonk Woman','Under My Thumb'. All the way to the apololyptic genius that is 'Sympathy For The Devil'... I picked this 2 disc collection up for around £5... At that price it is a bargain. As good a compilation as you could ever wish for. Recommended ++++++

Highly recommended for late starters like me or the long term Stones fan who needs all of the best in one compilation.
Go on get yourself 'Loads of Satisfaction'

I am afraid I am a sad ageing rocker, hated the rolling stones in the 60's but now think they are great! Good all round album good for keeping me awake on a long journey!
