ROCKY

Well everybody knows and agrees that Rocky was a great film, even winning the best picture oscar back in 1976. But many feel that as the films went on, they became worse and worse until by the 3rd and 4th sequels it was a bit of a joke. Well I disagree.
Rocky 1 and 2 are relatively similar films, where Balboa is living in the same area, without much money or fame. These are certainly the best two films in terms of quality with more realistic story lines and better dialougue. They chart Rockys rise from a poor club fighter to heavyweight champoin of the world. They also focus strongly on his relationship with Adrienne who he depends on to fight, especially in 2, where he only begins real training when she tell him to!
Then we move on to three, which is certainly the link between the older and later rocky films. The entertainment value is certainly increaed, although at the hands of some of the aspects that made the first two films so good. Still, you can't help supporting Rocky all the way through as the good-bad guy roles are takin to the extremety with him and Clubber Lang(Mr T)After this, we reach 4, which in my opinion is probably the most entertaining film of the lot, with Rocky given many reasons to hate his opponent, not least because he is Russian at the height of the cold war(maybe a little dated now). The training sequences in Russia are superb, and the fight is very well done as with all of the films.
Rocky 5 however, as I'm sure many fans will agree is easily the weekest film here as Rocky is forced to retire and trains up a young prodigy who soon turns on him with the lure of money that Rocky cannot give him. A poor conclusion to a great series, and with Rocky 6 due out soon, i just hope that can be a more fitting end.
