First of all, if you are expecting a 'Little Britain' type program then think again! Rock Profile tries to be a bit more 'clever clever' with all the pop and rock references. The first series on DVD1 seems to try a little too much but on DVD2, the second series seems to relax a wee bit and the laughs come a-plenty.
The incidental music is REALLY irritating and repeatative.
If you're a Walliams and Lucas fan then buy a cheap second hand copy. You may be surprised at how funny some of the sketches are but some are naff. Like anything - it's subjective. What I find funny you might not and vice versa. Ce la vie!!!!

Some of the early stuff from Matt & David, the material shows it age, but is still funny in places, watching the episodes back to back is not a good idea as you become numb to the style of comedy, although if you are a fan of these guys then this is well worth viewing/buying.

Top comedy staring Matt Lucas & David Walliams this is the stuff they did before Little Bittain... Where they take off pop stars giving interviwes to Jamie Theakston The comedy is top stuff the ABBA and Take That stuff is top notch and the Elton John and other pop stars past and prestent is nothing short of Brill all an all well worth getting hold of.... Top stuff....

I absoulutely loved this DVD and watched it all the way through without stopping (ended up going to bed at 3.30am but ti was so worth it!). It is a tribut to the genius that is Lucas and Walliams that is plain to see even in this early work. The writting and timing is superb and the portrayal of the characters hilarious.
This is a 'must see' for any Lucas and Walliams and Little Britainn fan

Before Little Britain & Bo Selecta.... Rock Profile!
Review created: 02/04/07
by:

Before the likes of Bo Selecta and Little Britain, Rock Profile aired on UK Play - a cable music channel, owned by The BBC. Then later it aired on BBC3 and UK Gold.

Rock Profile truely is pure genius and offers a unique, camp and amazingly over-exaggerated take on celebs from the world of music.

Matt Lucas and David Walliams dress in some iconic outfits, put some well known voices (later used for some characters from Little Britain) and conduct the most outrageous interviews.

Jamie Theakston Interviews the pair as a host of celebs including:
Abba
Steps (Lee and H)
Bucks Fizz
Take That
Robbie Williams
Shirley Bassey (one of my faves)
Tom Jones
Blur
Prince
Elton John (Classic!)
Geri Halliwell (Your sides will hurt from laughing)
George Michael
...to name but a few!

Little Britain offered the occasional cracker, but this is riddled with gags and sayings that you'll be repeating for years to come.

Definitely worth a few quid. Hugely underrated.

Enjoyable and really funny in parts, but it has to be said that this is nowhere near as humourous as Little Britain. If you buy this expecting to be entertained on the same level as Little Britain you will be slightly dissapointed.

Rock Profile review (Matt Lucas and David Walliams)

I bought this for a friend who was really into Little Britain. Its Matt Lucas and David Walliams acting out famous pop bands , like an interview, with Jamie Theakston as the interviewer.
I started watching this when it first came out about 7 years ago, it had a cult audience and launched the duo to later create Little Britain.
I think its hillarious. My favouraite is when they pretend to be the Bee Gees.
Watch it if your a fan of Little Britain, you won't be disappointed!!
