This is a really great CD...as usual it portrays the superb vocal talents of this legendary Rock Star!I have always been a fan of Plant, ever since his early work with Led Zeppelin. He was good then and he is still the same talented vocalist as 30 years ago.I personally recommend this CD but see for yourself and buy it,listen to it and if you are not impressed then sell it on Ebay!....someone out there will always be looking for music from this guy.

Robert Plant doing what he does best!

From an early teenage hero worship of Robert whilst in Led Zeppelin and a love of all things 'Rock' it was a good few years before I decided to listen to what he had been up to since.. After hearing 29 palms recently on Planet Rock I had to buy an album containing this track! What a good good choice! Every track is superb but some outshine the rest in my opinion - ' The Greatest Gift' being my ultimate favourite.. 'Come into my life' 'I believe' and 'Great spirit' following close behind. If you are only into 'Black Dog' and 'Immigration song'type tracks from the Zepp days then this will seem tame but Ive always had a fondness for Roberts slower - emotional songs that carry such strength and conviction but vulnerability too.. Two stunning songs spring to mind from the Zepp days - 'Since Ive been loving you' and 'Crawl' if those did something to you deep inside then this is the album you need to buy now! Enjoy!! - Kate (A4KTY)

The greatest gift...it has a beautiful drum fill...with seven beats... just after the guitar solo and a little singing...at the end of a phrase...so unique...never used before os since in rock music...its called a 'parralax seven' drumfill as it has seven beats and is symmetric...ie in the middle of the fill (figuratively speaking) you can 'draw a line' and it would sound the same way backwards and forwards...brilliant!!

  A boring ramble

Well, I hate to be amongst the minority here, but I think this album is rubbish. I have been a Led Zep fan forever but if you're buying this on the strength of his Zeppelin days, forget it. I'm afraid to say it but I think Mr Plant shows the first frailities of his ageing voice on this album. No longer can he reach the passionate cries and blues-rock emotion, and he ends up sounding like a soft rock vocalist with a slighty (and I mean 'slighty') edgier rock band behind him. Track 3 for example, 'Come into my life' has strengths akin to Zeppelin; a great Powerhouse of a chorus that is completely underplayed, mixed down and overshadowed by watery, wistful production. 29 Palms was something of a hit for Mr Plant and is a pseudo religious dirge of truly biblical proportions.
I find it difficult to dis-associate Led Zeppelin and Mr Plants solo output. Unfair possibly as for example, McCartney never matched the collective of the Beatles for example, (but he at least came up with some very good albums now and again), not so in the case of Mr Plant.
The album has percussive influences of the North African continent, not a bad thing, but for me it detracts from the British rock image he enjoyed (or edured) for years.
I just find the album boring. Sorry. But there it is !
