Ricky Gervais - Live - Politics (DVD 2004)

Perhaps not quite as brilliant as his 'animals' standup. But still one of the best acts around today.
The biggest difference is that Ive watched 'animals' 5 times but only felt the need to watch 'politics' once.

I've seen the Office. I love it! I've seen bits of Aniamls, it looked ok. I've seen Ricky Gervais on countless tv shoes, and he's always been a laugh, but this DVD was a complete let down.

I was really looking forward to seeing Ricky Gervais doing standup. To be honest, I was probably expecting David Brent to come out on stage! Gervais' jokes are a little (OK, a lot) on the wrong side of the fence, but all in good humour, but they aren't funny enough. I sat watching the hour or so long performance and laughed no more than 10 times! A lot of times the audience are laughing, but you can never tell why!

I don't have a problem with comedians taking jokes as far as they can, but his approach is all wrong.

The funniest bit of the routine is the pre-recorded intro! Scripting, acting and then poloshing a performance is far more suited to Ricky Gervais than stand up and improv.

If you're a fan of the Office, you may find this mildly amusing (at most), but if you're not then stay clear.

bought for a family member to show them what they were missing out on! ricky gervais is a pure genius, and the politics dvd tops animals by far. Anything created by this man plus his partner in crime, steven merchant, is worth a watch! cant wait for the extras two dvd to be relaesd!

This DVD was bought as a present... its such a great live show... it provided lots of laughs... and it was much cheaper that buying it in the shops!

This is one of the funniest stand ups Ive ever seen. If your not a fan of the office (like I wasn't when I bought it) then this should convert you. The extra's are quite funny also... the interview with karl pilkington is funnier than the stand up...must have dvd!

Ricky is in fine form on stage and the extra "Living with Ricky" documentary following him on tour with long suffering best mate will leave you in creases.

i bought it for my husband ,he thinks this guy is funny, and has one of the other dvds from ricky Gervais

he is very funny in a dry sort of way, if you cant laugh at him laugh at him!! it was great its a shame when these dvds come to an end. thanks again.

Not much to do with Politics in its traditional sense; more to do with very funny stories, a certain charitable trust, and sexual self-stimulation ... oh, and it's very very funny.

For his first stand up dvd its brilliant! Love it, cracks me up every time! I highly recommend it. I especially love his total honesty and dead pan humour

Ricky Gervais tops the animals show here with an equally good stand up, will have you in tears laughing! This is one of the best stand ups EVER! 10/10

Ricky Gervais is what i love about this show. He can create images, make you believe that he his interacting with others on stage for the sake of a joke, by being very subtle. He's not only a good joke teller, but his acting on stage, self mocking is what makes it such a great show.

It's hard to write a review about something that really speaks volumes for itself. For those who know Ricky Gervais and even for those who don't, this will have you laughing all the way through. As the title suggests, there is only one subject in this stand up and thats Politics, even if you are not interested in Politics (like me), this DVD makes it seem like a world of laughs! A deffinate must buy!

Another hilarious show by Ricky Gervais - can he get any better?

Never for one minute are you bored through-out this entire show, that's how quick the times goes when you're watching it.

Very funny and humour is original. Border lining politically incorrect but that's what makes it so good.

Ricky Gervais still tickles you pink, possibly not as funny as his previous stand ups (animals and politics) but still well worth watching!!!

Love the genius that is Ricky Gervais. Bought three copies on Ebay because my son took my first copy to uni and didn't return it! The replacement copy I bought on Ebay was scratched although the seller had made no mention of this in her auction so I bought a third which is in perfect condition.

The only thing I dislike about it is that it isn't longer!

Interesting extras include insight into Ricky Gervais and his 'habits' worth buying just to see Ricky chilling with his cat 'Colin'.

not as funny as his animals dvd- but still hillarious, and v.clever! definately reccomended- especially if you've seen animals (and enjoyed it).

If you like ricky gervais' style of comedy you'll love this dvd. It includes his live performance and extras. The extras are well worth watching and almost as good as the main feature. The only thing i'll say is that the pages are a little hard to navigate and ther's an annoying intro everytime you turn on.
