  This IS Resident Evil....Biohazard...
Review created: 28/07/08

This movie is most like the Resident Evil games it tries to emulate.
The other 2 movies are ok but I sooo wanted them to be better! Why oh why do they leave out the precious piano music that haunts all of the games? Why oh why was Nemesis so blimmin' small! (He seemed a lot bigger when he was chasing me!)
The world is over run now and each does what they can to survive as the Umbrella organisation desperately try to control the virus infected monsters roaming above in the wasteland once called earth, and the remaining humans just run from town to town looking for food, fuel and other unfortunate survivors.
Alice is back and she's....scarier. (On a personal note I could have done without Alice's creation for these movies. For anyone out there that doesn't know, Alice has nothing to do with any of the games and was completely invented for these movies. Strangely most of the other key characters do exist in the game world.)
I do tire somewhat from movie land taking what we like in a genre and trying to cash in on it in the movie format. It is seldom any good as they always feel they should alter and mess around with storylines. For the most part this is to help us along, the poor western audience who need easy explanations for everything and clues leading upto the climax and everyone can exclaim, I knew that was going to happen!
If you only watched one Resident evil movie, this would be a good one as it includes he lonely feeling you are forced to feel throughout the games accompanied by the simple horrors of looking at the environment which can reveal many tragedies, leaving you to actually feel what the actor is feeling.
They remembered the crows, in the games crows feature very often. Imagine what they eat in this environment, they won't be normal will they....be very quiet and move slowly....shhh....
They remembered the battered Umbrella facility. In the games you stumble across many rooms which have bourne witness to all manner of horrifying scenes, you see the evidence left behind in graphic detail and you may also be wily enough to notice the manner of the destruction and the sheer amount of blood left behind, leading you to a startling conclusion. Something new did this, something bigger and definately more dangerous than the zombies.
I like this movie the best, all that was missing was the famous Resident evil save room music in the form of gentle piano and strings. I guess in this environment though, there is no save room.

i decided to buy this movie because it came at quite a cheap price compared to some of the highstreet sellers, and because it is such a great movie too. It now completes my trilogy :)

I loved the first two movies and needed to see the 3rd one to complete the triolgy!
slightly different to the 1st two but still as good with action and zombies with a twist of the umbrella corporation including a surprise appearence from Albert Wesker from the Resident Evil video games!
The very last of the sane Human Race Vs. The Evil who started it, how will the battle end? how much more of the Tvirus will spread only Alice and her army can stop Wesker and the umbrella corporation now!

  Resident Evil - Extinction (DVD)
Review created: 10/04/08

The third instalment in the Resident Evil series opens with a semi-naked Milla Jovovich - proving that, if nothing else, this is a movie that knows its audience. Once our heroine is decanted into her traditional cocktail dress and biker boots, it's business as usual: bag as many zombies as possible while avoiding the attentions of the sinister Umbrella corporation. Seriously, how sinister can it be with a name like "Umbrella"? It sounds like an insurance company.

The Resident Evil console games are standard setters in the survival horror genre, so it's a pity (though not exactly a shock) that the resulting movies are so stale. For Extinction, the action moves to the Nevada desert, thus combining regulation zombie slaying with Mad Max-inspired road warrior antics. Milla hooks up with a convoy of survivalists, has an entertaining scrap with a flock of zombie ravens (whatever next - zombie possums? Zombie shrimp?) and discovers the sandswept remains of Las Vegas. Meanwhile, deep underground in their computer generated bunker, those evil Umbrella boys are trying to teach the living dead to use mobile phones. No, really. They are. You can imagine the texting: GRAR. BRANEZ4EVA. LOLZ.

"EXPLODING HEADS"

Which is not to say that Resident Evil is entirely without merit. There's a decent extended shoot out, a zom-dog attack, and the computer that cubed Colin Salmon in the first flick makes a welcome re-appearance. Director Russell Mulcahy, a veteran of sci-fi tat, knows well enough to keep his camera firmly focussed on the exploding heads, and of course, there's the semi-naked Milla. One for Saturday night DVD rental, really.

i love all the resident evil films, even though i dont play the games.my son does and he is amazing at it.Milla Jovovich at her most gorgeous , right good twist at the end, much action and excellent graphics ,funny in parts and sad in others the messing about with genetics is pretty gruesome but you never know , look what they did with dolly the sheep!, anyway get the trilogy cos you need to see all from start to finish, if you are a milla fan like me , you won't be disappointed. best wishes to all xxxx

  Resident Evil Extinction

Movies based on computer games generally aren't well respected, but just because they aren't high art doesn't mean they can't be highly enjoyable. The only catch is that you need to be a fan of computer games to appreciate them. Resident Evil: Extinction is the third movie in the massively popular Resident Evil franchise, and it's probably the best one yet.

Between Resident Evil: Apocalypse and Extinction, the zombie-creating T-virus has spread far beyond the doomed Raccoon City; now the human race is almost extinct (hence the title). When a convoy of survivors meets up with the genetically-altered Alice, the shadowy Umbrella Corporation does everything in its power to take them down and reclaim her; but Alice isn't giving up without a fight...

Resident Evil: Extinction is part zombie movie, and part post-apocalyptic survival yarn. The big set pieces use CGI that doesn't look anything like reality, but does look very much like a computer game, which is possibly intentional--since this is a sequel to an adaptation, Resident Evil: Extinction does tend to assume a built-in audience which is already familiar with the various quirks of the franchise. If you're a fan of the games, you'll enjoy the various references to game characters and events; if not, you might feel a bit left out. It's not the best entry point to the franchise if you're a complete newcomer, but if you've seen the other films, it's a hell of a lot of fun

The third and final instalment of the Resident Evil series, Extinction, is again based on the widely poular video game series and picks up where the last film left off. Alice (Milla Jovovich), now in hiding in the Nevada desert, once again joins forces with Carlos Olivera (Oded Fehr) and L.J (Mike Epps), along with new survivors (Ali Larter), K-Mart (Spencer Locke) and Nurse Betty (Ashanti) to try and eliminate the deadly virus that threatens to make every human being undead.... and to see seek justice. Since being captured by the Umbrella Corporation, Alice has been subjected to biogenic experimentation and becomes genetically altered, with super-human strengths, senses and dexterity. These skills, and more, will be needed if anyone is to remain alive...

  Zombie-mania... Resident Evil-ization!
Review created: 06/06/09

3rd chapter of the zombie-saga, Resident Evil Extinction is simply amazing.
This film has plenty of top action and a good amount of salivating zombies getting creatively hacked up. Milla Jovovitch is lethal and gorgeous by turns, and knows more about decimating the undead than any other screen star of recent memory. Good stuff, strongly recommended.

A fine tribute to the Resident Evil series
Review created: 17/03/09
by:

The first Resident Evil movie made with amazing CGI animation, I fell in love with this the instant I watched it. The events of the story take place after the game, Resident Evil 4 and the main stars are Leon S Kennedy and Claire Redfield, who also use the same voice actors from their first game together, Resident Evil 2, which is possibly my favourite.

The opening scene jumps straight in to the action where an airport becomes overrun by the virus and poor Claire is right in the middle of it all! Leon is brought in as a specialist to lead a rescue attempt on the survivors and now has a hardened and very serious attitude with his battle tactics, making him seem like a complete zombie veteran of some kind!

Ron Davis is an ignorant senator for Umbrella who plays the typical arrogant billionaire that needs to be rescued. He is perfect for doing whatever it takes to keep himself alive, he even pushes a little out in a crowd of zombies to get away! This guy represents Umbrella to the fullest and this makes him appear even more like an evil tyrant. Everything he does and says makes you hate him more, making him stand out as possibly the best villain of the Resident Evil series so far.

Sadly though these 3 characters I feel are the only ones who have a heavy role in the film. A 4th character perhaps would be Curtis Miller has an interesting fate towards the end of the film, where he has his moment but he has little involvement with the story until then. I would much prefer a bigger build up to that climax, instead the story focuses mainly on the escape from the airport and then seems to just drift along.

Overall, I'm really glad I watched it, it stands out from the games and other films and contributes nicely to the story, it also fills in some gaps and sets you up for the upcoming Resident Evil 5 game, which is said to take place after the events of this film.

  Superior Zombie Movie
Review created: 04/03/09

Bought because I own the first two Resident Evil movies and a fan of both zombie movies and the Resident Evil games. Five stars from me because Milla Jovovich in a highly entertaining zombie/action movie can command no less and this is very entertaining. Box of popcorn movie as opposed to Oscar winner but still great fun!!

  Ahhhh zombies....Ahhhh birds....
Review created: 20/01/09

One warning to start off with, If you haven't seen the 1st two you will have no idea what happening unless you can catch on quick. Its an adrenaline fuelled Roller-coaster of a movie that's highly entertaining and can keep you fixed while trying to fiqure out who's going to be killed next.Zombies, Guns, Martial arts, Birds and Milla Jovovich - what more can you ask for? And this is precisely what you get.Action and killing zombies is from the word go. The story moves along at a nice pace but a sign of a good film is it seems to end so fast, And the special effects were pretty good the scene when the birds attack a convoy base camp was very good. This is well worth a watch and there is lots of killing zombies, Big selection of guns and the lethal but gorgeous Milla Jovovich which is anoth to keep anyone happy. Grab some popcorn, Put your feet up and injoy.
