The first four series in this hilarious comedy show!

Series 1: 'The End' sees a radiation leak wipe out the crew of Red Dwarf leaving only one survivor - Dave Lister. In 'Future Echoes' Red Dwarf breaks the speed of light leaving the crew experiencing visions of their own futures. 'Balance Of Power' sees Lister about to take his chef's exam and if he passes he will be able to have Rimmer replaced as the ship's hologram... In 'Confidence And Paranoia' Lister gets a mutated virus which makes his hallucinations come to life leaving the ship beset by herring rain amongst other things... 'Waiting For God' sees the ship's computer, Holly, find a pod floating about in deep space and Lister pleased to learn that he is a god. In 'ME2' Rimmer creates a duplicate of himself, all seems perfect until they both find themselves in a conflict that only one can win...

Series 2: Features the episodes 'Kryten' in which the crew of Red Dwarf finds an android called Kryten looking after three fellow crew members who have been dead for years... 'Better Than Life' in which Rimmer receives a note from his mother informing him that his father is dead, 'Thanks For The Memory' in which the crew wake up with no memory of what has happened over the past four days, In 'Statis Leak' the crew find a stasis leak which takes them back to the time of the original Red Dwarf... 'Queeg' sees Holly, the ship's computer, replaced by Queeg 500. In 'Parallel Universe' the crew are thrown into a parallel universe, there they meet their female counterparts...

Series 3: The complete third series of the television comedy science fiction programme. Features the episodes 'Backwards', 'Marooned', 'Polymorph', 'Bodyswap', 'Timeslides' and 'The Last Day'.

Series 4: It all began when the crew of the Jupiter mining ship Red Dwarf were killed by a blast caused by a badly sealed Drive plate. Dave Lister, safely sealed in a stasis booth, and his pregnant cat were the only survivors. Revived three million years later, Lister is probably the only surviving member of the human race - and what a representative. A curry-stained layabout, he is undoubtedly the scruffiest, smelliest individual ever to slob around the universe.

I bought this DVD using the 'Buy it now' option. Item was described as an authentic disk. I was then emailed by the seller, advising me that "the item was actually 'backup copies' of the original disk, without artwork, in clear plastic sleaves, but quality as good as an original!". I requested and received a full refund, as I refuse to pay £15 for some copied disks!

I love red dwarf and this box set gives me the ability to watch hours of it at once!!!!
Before buying I noticed that there were some bad reviews. If you are worried about these have a read, The only 2 bad reviews are from people complaining about problems they have had with a seller on ebay. Not necessairy to give the Red Dwarf box set a bad review, it is amazing (if a little dated but thats all part of the charm)

The fact you are reading reviews of Red Dwarf would suggest you've probably already made you're mind up to buy it, if you haven't, what are you waiting for?. This is the funniest british show since Delboy and Rodney were on our screens, own it and enjoy anytime you like! 100% brilliant!

What is there not like about Red Dwarf?
Its a laugh a minute as Lister (Craig Charles) and the boys saunter through space getting into mishaps and generally abusing each other at every given opportunity.
If you like serious, well made sci-fi films with loads of special effects then this dvd probably isn't for you but if you enjoy fart jokes, ridiculous story lines and general nonsense then you'll love this as there's laughs a plenty to be had.

Red Dwarf - Just The Shows Vol. 1 (DVD 2004)

This DVD contains all 24 episodes of the first 4 series of Red Dwarf, a random UK sit-com based 3 million years in the future in outer space. I first encountered this show years ago on very late night TV and this DVD set allows me to re-live the adventures of the Red Dwarf crew at times that now suit me. There's 12 hours of shows, so it's a relief that there is no bonus material. It's what is says on the box, 'Just the Shows'. Awesome.

The first four series in this hilarious comedy show!

Dave Lister ........Craig Charles
Cat........Danny John Jules
Arnold Rimmer........Chris Barrie
Holly........Norman Lovett

Series 1 The end.....begins with a radiation leak wiping out the entire crew of the Jupiter mining ship Red Dwarf .......or did it. Dave Lister is an incompetant crew member who survived due to being put in statis following the breaking of quarantine laws after bring on board a cat from shore leave. He is thawed out after 3 million years to discover he is the sole remaining human.

Future Echoes .... sees the full crew including a hologram Rimmer, and Cat, a evolved life-form from the original cat brought onboard, and Dave, breaking the speed of light, which leaves the crew seeing visions of their own future.
Balance of Power ......Lister takes his chefs exam, and if he passes he will be able to replace Rimmer as the ship's hologram
Confidence and Paranoia.......Lister gets infected by a mutated virus which makes his hallucinations come to life, with comical results including 'Herring Rain'.
Waiting for God......Holly the ship's computer finds a pod floating in deep space, Lister finds out he is a God!. (didnt we think that???)
ME2......Rimmer manages to create a clone of himself, however his perfect idea ends in conflict which only one of the Rimmer's can win.

Series 2

Kryten..........Robert LLewellen

Kryten.......The crew find an android on board a 'dead ship', who is just slightly bonkers trying to look after 3 dead members of the ship. Kryten, who looks like he was based on Max Headroom, joins the crew as a regular cast memeber.
Better than life......Talk about the postal service going downhill lately, Rimmer receives a letter from his mother telling him his father is dead. Wonder what the cost to deliver that would be....hopefully he doesnt have to pay for it on delivery!
Thanks for the memory........The crew of the Red Dwarf wake up after 4 days with no clue as to what has happened to them, only to discover oneof them is responsible.
Stasis Leak.........The crew find themselves transported back to the time of the original Red Dwarf;Lister uses this time to hook up with his past love, and Rimmer tries to convince himself to get put in stasis, so he can survice.
Queeg......The ship's computer Holly is replaced by the tyrannical Queeg 500, who can win in a battle of the wills?
Parallel Universe.....Dave's dream meeting a female happens when the crew are thrown into a parallel universe where the crew members are all female counterparts.

Series 3

Backwards.........Kryten and Rimmer take the shuttlecraft - Starbug, through a rip in time to an 'earthlike' planet, where everyone does things backwards. Watch a fight 'unhappen' and the crew 'vomiting' a pint of beer.
Marooned..........Holly finds 5 black holes, so the crew abandon ship only to end up on a desolate planet.
Polymorph......An alien creature able to replicate itself as any item gets onboard Red Dwarf....hilarity ensues as the totally paranoid crew fight it.
Bodyswap.....Rimmer and Lister swap bodies supposedly for a 2 week spell, but Rimmer doesnt want to swap back.
Timeslides.....Kryten develops a roll of film which comes to life, and allows the crew to enter the pictures of their younger selves.......ok who thinks they can make some money out of this?
The Last Day.....Krytens warranty is up, so a 'terminator' droid arrives.

DNA
Justice
White Hole
Dimension Jump
Melt

  Pure classic English comedy

One of the best, if not the best, British comedy. There will never be another sitcom like it, with it's original and vulgar humour and it's diverse mix of characters- who would of thought a comedy about a scouser, a hologram, a descendant from a cat, a droid and an onboard computer (with the supposed IQ of 6000) would work so well. Trying to buy the second volume of shows now!

  Just the Shows
Review created: 08/11/06

If you like Red dwarf and want to watch them all again back to back and loose 12 hours in constant belly laughable witty jokes then this truly is the boxset for you!

If you a guy and/or gal that is looking for the extra notch of added features and bonus material then this really ins't the one for you! As it says, its JUST THE SHOWS! no more, you get every episode of each series but nothing more.

This boxset is a much chaper alternative to the single dvds you can buy seeing as they cost around £10-£17 each and come with a spare disk of footage that your not likely to sit through. The boxset is neater but the singular dvd's do make your dvd collection look more resepectable.

All in all, if you like Red Dawrf and don't want to "break the bank" then go for this! It'd make a great gift for any of those smeghead friends of yours, if not just for yourself!

Toodles
