In this prequel to 'The Silence Of The Lambs', Edward Norton stars as ex-FBI agent Will Graham, an expert investigator who quit the Bureau after almost losing his life in the process of capturing Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Anthony Hopkins).

Years later, after a series of particularly grisly murders, Graham reluctantly agrees to come out of retirement and assist in the case. But he soon realises that the best way to catch this killer, known as the Tooth Fairy, is to find a way to get inside the killer's mind. And the closest thing to that would be to probe the mind of another killer who is equally brilliant and equally twisted. For Graham, that means confronting his past and facing his former nemesis, the now-incarcerated Lecter...

Hanibal at his best. Not as good as Silence of the Lambs overall but storyline just as good. Silence of the Lambs picks up where this film leaves off, which answers a few questions, like how he was caught and imprisoned in the first place. Very enjoyable (if you like suspense, gore and off screen violence)

  The Red Dragon

Having the other titles on dvd, i was most pleased to come across the missing title, Red Dragon. A prequel to the silence of the lambs starring Edward Norton as a retired F.B.I agent, enlisted to delve into the depraved depths of Dr Lecter's mind. His return to active duty being a chilling assignment which will hopefully result with the capture of a serial killer known only as "The Tooth Fairy"
Antony Hopkin's reprises his role as the deliciously chilling Lecter. Who relishes the fact that his expertise is needed to help crack the case, tormenting as always with tit bits and suggestions, but always falling short of revealing the necessary info needed to connect the dots.
Ralph Fiennes turns in a top performance of a disturbed killer gripped in the midst of maniacal obsession! The way the film is shot it almost feels voyeuristic in parts that you are almost there bearing witness to some pretty gruesome events! A definite must see for any lecter fan guarenteed to keep you glued to your seat!

  Best Film Trilogy
Review created: 22/10/09

With the incomparable acting of Anthony Hopkins, this film series is the best to ever grace our screens. Personally, Red Dragon is my second favourite instalment behind Silence Of The Lambs and to be perfectly honest if I could make you do one thing today, it would be to buy this DVD.

  Dissapointing purchase
Review created: 10/07/09

OK first I should clearly state that the cause of my dissapointment over this purchase was down to me not reading the ad properly and being in a rush, so I cant really blame the seller which is why I left positive feedback, although being dissapointed.

My girlfriend really wanted a copy of this film to add to her collection and I was in a rush to find a copy, I searched, bid and won at a fair price. I assumed that this would be like ALL the rest on Ebay and sold in a proper case with sleeve and I also assumed very wrongly that being a DVD I would dreceive it in a few days, again like all the other DVDs and CDs I have bought on Ebay.

It took an age to arrive, and when it did it was in a clear case without sleeve, also the disc was disc 1 of an set, but yes it was the film Red Dragon which as a film is superb, I have to say also the disc is in good condition.

When I re-read the advert in full, the seller did say it was not supplied with a sleeve and also stated "possible, and up to" shipping times. Like oh so many ebay adverts they disguise these vital points in a mass of text that you can't really be bothered to read through. Had I have seen either of these points before hand I would have bought it elswhere. Also annoying that it is obvious that the disc normally comes as a set as the disc has disc 1 printed on it, that being the case I would reccomend any film fan to look out for the whole set and not just the film. Movie itself great, but my choice of supplier lame.

  Another Anthony Hopkins Horror/Thriller Classic
Review created: 06/05/08

Before Silence of the Lambs came the RED DRAGON! A first and the most terrifying chapter in the Hannibal Lecter Trilogy.
TO UNDERSTAND THE ORIGIN OF EVIL, YOU MUST FIRST GO BACK TO THE BEGINING. This phsycological thriller/Horror will have you puzled and wanting to know more through every minute of the film. Highly recommended as a Film collector.

If you enjoyed Silence of the Lambs this is a must watch. It gives you an insight into the life of Hannibal Lectur leading up to his being caught. I bought it on a recommendation from a friend and I am glad I did.

  Red Dragon
Review created: 07/01/07

I bought this DVD because I had read three of the books of the Hannibal Lecter series. Also I had watched the film Manhunter which is based on the Red Dragon book. Most of the reviews I had read seemed to rate Manhunter superior to Red Dragon. Having seen both films i would have to disagree. Personally I rate Red Dragon much higher, both films have differences from the book, especially the end of the film but Red Dragon's is far better. I would definitely reccomend watching this film.
