The direction is the star in this tangled, confusing, daft psychological thriller fromn Brian De Palma. It oozes Hitchcock from every pore. John Lithgow does a good job as a scary guy with multiple personalities and Lolita Davidovich plays his wife. The only time you will be "on the edge of your seat" is when you are getting up to get some popcorn.

I first watched this film years ago when it was first out, and it has haunted me ever since. The dialogue and shooting of this film is fantastic, and you can't help feeling sorry for crazed Carter.
It's both chilling and intriguing and leaves you thinking about the film for weeks to come, or in my case years !!!.
John Lithgow is excellent, he plays the part to a tee, and you never quite forget his bizzare yet compelling character.
I love this type of film, it will leave you analyzing every scene..
