Railway Roundabout 1961 DVD. Steam railways in 1961
This is a DVD of what originally was available on VHS. Therefore easier to use, and probably better quality.
It is archive film recordings of steam locomotives running in the late 50s and early 60s for inclusion in the BBC programme Railway Roundabout. Good quality genuine archive material, (not modern-day preserved railways). (Archived at the National Raiway Museum at York).
Filming is professional, with usually two cameras recording an event. Some in colour, some in monochrome.
This is for the dedicated railway enthusiast, and is not 'coffee table' material, and therefore is not 'padded out' with unnecessary footage and tedious interviews, which is so common on current productions aimed at a wider audience.
I would highly recommend the whole series, which also includes European railways.
