Radiohead - OK Computer The best album ever?

OK Computer, the aptly titled 3rd album from the 90s most ground breaking british band Radiohead. Released almost a decade ago in 1997, the time when we were seeing a masive change in the way technology affects our lives. When I first saw the album cover with the words 'OK computer' it alomost made me feel like the world was saying it. 'OK computer, you win, take us and do with us what you will' For me this ablum signified the dawning of a new age for us all. It was like Radiohead had come of age, their first and second album establishing them for what they are, OK computer was a way of saying 'Now we have your attention, listen to this' Almost every track on the album has it's own unique flavour. There are no album fillers here, it feels like every song is there for a reason. You can hear a real confidence within this album, almost like the band were past caring what we all might think of it. The musicianship, production and songwriting was up to a level not often reached. It's not often you get another pink floyd come on to the music scene. It seemed there were many guitar based bands rising up through the charts in the 90s but none of them seemed to capture the timeless genuis of Radiohead. There are no comprimises on this album. It's pure music! Some might say an aquired taste, in fact in 1997 when released I personally did not like the band or the album. I look back on myself and think of this time as a sort of deafness within me, to be ignoring such an album at such an important time in our lives! OK Computer is now my number 1 album, my desert island disc. Voted the best album in the world ever made by the readers of Q Magazine. If you dont have this album - Get it. It's an essential ingredient in any CD collection. In Fact get 2 copies, you might wear one out!

What do I dislike about this album? That’s easy. Nothing.
This album is absolutely perfect, and should be the benchmark by which all other albums are judged. From the massive No Surprises and Karma Police, to the fans favourites like Exit Music and Airbag, each song is a breath of fresh air and you will never get tired of listening to it.
This is Radiohead at their almighty best and no self respecting CD collection can be without OK Computer.

This is the quite simply the best indie/rock album of the nineties. A dark side of the moon of its era.

This is a stunning album from a set of amazing musicians collectively known as Radiohead.Thom Yorkes voice is absolutely awesome from start to finish. The album features a few call time classic songs with the multi-segmented "Paranoid Android" which is a very complex modern day anthem the hauntingly stunning "Karma Police" and the beautiful "No Surprises".

  OUTSTANDING
Review created: 17/06/09

I have never really got into Radiohead, as a 17 year old I always thought they were too mature for me. But as they are headlining Reading Festival 2009 I thought I should give them a go . . . WOW! What a decision!

I always found the singers voice fairly annoying but on this album he is superb, with a really haunting yet beautiful tone to his voice. Instrumentally the album is very clever and experimental, various tracks such as 'electioneering' are fast tempo, with thundering guitar riffs, whereas tracks like 'no suprises' leave you with a lump in your throat due to their haunting lyrics.

'OK Computer' is a fantastic LP, it almost makes you feel more mature as a person. The bands maturity is immense and the sound is so original. So far ahead of its time, it sounds just like it could have been released yesterday, with todays indie/alternative bands seeming heavily influenced by Radiohead's work, in particular this album.

I didn't believe I would enjoy this CD as much when I bought it for £1, but I can safely say I now understand exactly why Radiohead have become such a phenominal musical act in the past 15 years.

Solid 10/10, A*, *****, 5/5 from me . . . hope this review is helpful for those who (like myself a few weeks ago) were really unsure about this fantastic band.

A amazing album where people of all mugenres can enjoy!

This album is simply amazing! There is no time to get bored with all the stop, starts and changes in the music. This is where the transition in their style really started! This is definately a album to listen to if you are looking to be inspired. Radiohead carry the image of being sombre, well this album is thriving with energy i would compare it to that stage in depression where you get a glimpse of hope and start to blossom! lol Enjoy! Naomi

  A Sombre Masterpiece
Review created: 15/08/08

This album is an enigma. I first bought it back in the 90's and hated it. Music to commit suicide to was how I once described this album. But, time is a funny thing and I recently heard a local cover band play some Radiohead and it kind of tweaked my interest again, so I rebought this album through eBay (the first one was flogged on a car boot sale). Man, it is breath-taking listening! Must be something about growing older, but I can chill out with this album and just take a breath from the rat-race and enjoy! By far the best song is Paranoid Android, but Lucky is almost as good, with Karma Police in close third place. Still wouldn't like to be forced to listen to it if I happened to be feeling suicidal - could just tip the balance, but a must for any muso officianado and you can sure see where Muse got their influenece (in my opinion anyway)!

this has been written, as Radiohead expect it to be listened too, as a hole, instead of a collection of individual singles bundled together, it feels so much bigger, for it, too. The way that EXIT MUSIC(FOR A FILM)(track 4) kicks you in the balls, then LET DOWN (track 5) brings you soring back up again is brilliant to me. If only they where less popular i could have a chance to see them live.

I already have this CD in my collection but upon listening to it again, I was compelled to buy it for a friend who I don't think has heard it!

This album is nothing short of brilliant, an absolute modern masterpiece which has only gained in stature after 10 years!

If you consider yourself a fan of music from 70's, 80's, 90's or 00's this truly is a must have!!!

"Ok Computer" is one of the most interesting 90s albums. Its psychedelic makes each song extremely beautiful; the Radiohead, recording this album, show their incredible talent. "Subterrean Homesick Alien" and "Airbag" are simply unforgettable.

i have always been a radiohead fan, but this album is by far the greatest. to say it is among the classic greats such as hendrix`s electric ladyland. beatles white album or led zepplin 4 is by no means an exaggeration.the whimpering vocals of thom yorke are complemented by the haunting overlay of guitar sounds. there are many things going on in this album which get noticed with each and every listen. if you dont yet have this album in your collection, and enjoy origional and eclectic music, buy it-you are yet to be inspired!

Without doubt one of the greatest albums ever. As good as, or if not better than The Bends, no CD collection is complete without it. A true masterpiece, every song you can listen to all the way through without wanting to skip on to the next track. A Joy.
