RIM BlackBerry Pearl 8120 Cellular Phone

I used to work for O2 supporting BlackBerry when they first arrived in the UK some years ago and we thought then that the phones where something different.

Now with the Perl it puts anything to shame. I have been a Nokia fan for years and I bought the Perl as my work phone for emails etc, but its now been promoted to my everyday phone. There is nothing this phone cant do on the O2 network.. Nothing!

I've had mine a few weeks now & am well pleased. Apart from email etc it's simply a really good phone! It replaces my Sony W950i & to be honest it makes me realise it's shortcoming! Before that I had an N80.

What I like:
- It's small & fits in my pocket.
- When I am on a call it doesn't look like I am talking to a calculator :).
- It's light.
- It looks good.
- It's reliable, i.e. it doesn't crash every time you open an email or something.
- Good call quality (incoming & outgoing).
- Fast start up

What I don't like:
- the battery. On a heavy use day (lots of email, browsing, Wi-Fi) it goes from 100 to 10% in a day. At least you get lots of warning & an extra battery isn't too expensive.
- Vibrate, it doesn't continue to vibrate when ringing. It vibrates from 1 to 3 times which you can configure but that's it.
- Using it as a modem isn't as fast as a 3G phone.

Overall, I give it 5 STARS. If I was happy to carry a phone & a Blackberry I'd get a Curve for the bigger keyboard & screen. But I am not. So I didn't. Overall this is a great small phone with a blackberry squeezed in! Highly recommended.

Firstly for those avid techs users of SE,Nokia,Samsung brands Blackberry devices will blow your mind away.
The GUI is second to none. It manages to bridge the gap between consumer devices to business extremely well. With WiFi capability, email, games and excellent sound and video quality I would recommend this brand to anyone who would like to experience a more functional device that is not much bigger than an ordinary phone. Def' demo out in phone retailers to see for yourself before committing as BB devices are not for everyone. You won't be disappointed.

No ebay I trust so the only way I can gather some kind of idea who I am buying from their ratings. The advert for the advert for this phone was clear and to the point and could almost be seen as too good to be true. Buying the item at £150 would seem alot of money for an ebay item but the phone was in some ways cheap. Thinking I picked up an item for a bargin I started to question myself when the seller informed me or constant updates about the status of the phone in an almost too good to be true fashion. When the delivery of the phone was late I did begin to wonder if I had shot myself in the foot.

I was wrong. The phone may of arrived a little late but I as given back £20 as a consultation for the late arrival. The phone worked in perfect condition and I can only but say that the guy was completely genuine all the way.

If only all eBay sellers were so open and honest as this one.

Had this phone for over 2 months already and all I can say is I have been enjoying it. This is my first BlackBerry phone since I have been using Nokia most of the time but I can say that I am impressed. Multimedeia great, I can watch the videos I had with my Nokia phones, I love the semi-qwerty keyboard, 2Meaga pixel camera is just fine, loudspeaker is also good. All in all, I can say I will definitely buy their devices again in the future. Definitely recommended.

Hi just got the 8120 had a play with it and its fantastic wifi works great so easy to set up.i used to have the 8300 curve but this is a lot better and smaller the curve was great but i prefer the 8120 and i think it looks better.so if your thinking of buying one just do it you wont regret it ...........

Little bit retro design-wise, otherwise an excellent little phone. If you are used to technology it is nowhere near as difficult to get used to as everyone makes out, it took me about an hour to figure out most things and get used to texting.

It is also much more compact than I expected, no bigger than the sony ericsson i owned before.

Querty keyboard takes a bit of getting used to, other than that phone is superb. Phone is lightweight and easy fits into your shirt pocket. All the applciation run smoothly and phone has not frozen, unlike some other smart phones that i have tried in the past.

all good stuff was everything it said it was and im happy with what i bought, the saying goes it does what it says on the tin!

Not very good as pay as you go, loads of features missing. very lightweight phone, feels very plastic/ easy to break. did not like the feel of this phone. sticking to nokia's

i absolutly LOVE this device after years of trying to get the perfect phone!!!
i used to have an n95 which wasn't bad but this is the shizzle bizzle, i mean RiM have got it so right, the standard ringtones are pants (but thats the same with any phone) i really love this and its an absolute JOY to use!!!

I like the size as it is very light to carry around, it has many facilities, you can check email, browse the internet and install google maps to search any maps in united kingdom, the text can be increased or decreased, easy to use shortcuts. i bought myself and my kids and wife ..i would recommend to everyone.

This is my first blackberry ever and i think this is proberly the best phone i have had there is so much stuff on this phone more then any other phone i have seen but with all that stuff crammed on there the phone is still really light.
One of the things i really like is the case you get with it as soon as you put the phone in the case there is magnets at the bottom which put the phone on stanby so you cant push any buttons until its out again.
If you are thinking about buying one then i would you won't be dissapointed.

If email on the go is top on your priority list, and you don't like the size and weight of the big BlackBerries, then the 8120 could be a good choice. However, the 8120 lags behind other smartphones when it comes to most features, and it isn't the easiest phone to use either.
The major learning curve was to use the SureType keyboard. Has an additional advantage of WLAN, but limited capabilites through this connectivity. The EDGE connection is quite satisfying relative to 3G.

blackberry was great value thanx will enjkoy the wifi and sat nav when i put it on the phone its small and lightweight for in the pocket.

A magnificent toy that does everything (almost) that it says on the box. The only gripe that I have with it (as with the previous Pearl model) is that I often have difficulty synching Microsoft Outlook Calendar with it.

i like the size and comfortable fit in the palm of my hand. what i dislike about the phone- the technical aspect- too complicated and few help supply from the manufacture blackberry rim for BLACKBERRY phone purchase in the UK WHEN A FAULT IS DITECTED WITH THE HANDSET. .

Good ebayer...got what I wanted, when I wanted it. Needed a Blackberry for my daughter, at a good price, and got it. I'm happy. MHHiii

The handsfree doesn't work! You only get 20 seconds before it goes to answer phone and the user interface is extremely complicated, not an intiutive machine, more a computer with a phone! Accessing messages is a bore but three rings as a limit is just dumb!

I FOUND THE KEYS TO SMALL, AND IT WAS DIFFICULT TO WORK, ALSO YOU HAD TO PAY TO GET E-MAILS (WHICH MANY OTHER MOBILES, YOU DON'T) I WAS VERY LUCKY THO' I MANAGED TO SELL IT ON, APPARENTLY THEY ARE VERY EXPENSIVE IN THAILAND AND A FRIEND WAS HOLIDAYING THERE, SO TOOK IT WITH HIM ....

the mobile is beautiful and in perfect condition, its works as describe but I was a bit upset that I can't use it for any network because its lock to O2.and had to pay 30 pound to unlock it.so this is my fault too however if in the future anyone who wish to bit make sure that the phone is unlock.
