The phone was bought hastily but with hindsight I should have bought it as part of a package. I still havent got internet access, the battery had water damage and getting a sim only package from Orange was very difficult. Major stores said they couldnt get a package unless the phone was bought from them I finally got a store to spend time working out I could get a sim only agreement and Ive had to buy the Blackberry email bundle for £7 a month which Im now trying to work out. Only high tech bods should buy.

  This is a great phone!

I bought this phone, not for business, but because I could not text using the useless predictive text on normal phones. It drove me mad! And since using the 8800 I have to say that this phone is fantastic! Alright, the buttons may be a bit fiddley at first but you do get used to them. I also have my e-mail now at my finger tips. It doesn't have a camera but phone cameras are only good for snaps and I didn't use mine before anyway, so I do not miss it at all. The wide bright screen is great as is the unit as a phone. Would I buy it again? Without a doubt!

  A great piece of kit
Review created: 20/08/08

I have just started using my Blackberry 8800 and am very pleased with all of its functions and capabilities. I was very much set on an 8310 curve but had decided to go for the 8800 as it has far more functions suited to my needs. A friend has a 8310 curve and it is a top handset, but overall an 8800 does exactly the same as an 8310 and more and can be snapped up for far cheaper, especially if purchasing via an ebay auction. Overall I am very satisfied with the 8800, I have uploaded so many of my music files from my laptop and also video files and pictures. With a 4gb micro sd card it seems the 8800 is pretty much capable of just about anything. I shall shortly download some maps for the GPS, which again is another useful feature which seems to be so accurate. An alround great handset, I highly recommend to anyone and everyone.

This smartphone is something different. The features are endless. If however you are buying a used model even if unlocked for any service provider, make sure that any previous registration has been de-registered, for without this the phone will not be able to use the Blackberry functions (these are what differentiate it from all other mobile phones)

I have a feeling that I will become addicted to this phone, my first Blackberry, no doubt won't be my last either. Features are excellent, the only downside is that it doesn't have a camera, but no bother the email function more than makes up for it.

  Blackberry difficult to unlock
Review created: 23/07/08

I hav purchased a Blackberry 8800 for my partner, since I am already using one on Voda, and it's a very verstile phone. Problem is the one I have purchased is locked to O2, and I have tried several internet unlocker with no success, but I am still being charged, when I took it to O2 shop, not only I have to paid through the nose for the unlock code, I have to provide them with previous owner's history !!!!, that is impossible.

The good news is, I have purchased a Turbo sim from ebay, I really didn't expect it to work, then, I was so pleasantly surprised, that as soon as I slide the modified sim in, and it begin to search for network, then lock on to Voda.

Most happy with the result.

great bit of kit, things that suck with blackberrys it to go on the net and to send mms messages you have to be on a contract and set up a data account on top of what you pay for your line rental, another way for mobile phone comp's to rip uss all off, and if you get a used one from you need to make sure the person you get it from gives you the pin for the data account set up and make sure there account was totaly paid off.

  Nice piece of kit !!!

Easy to navigate around the menus. Some of the initial setting up can be a bit daunting at first. I have fitted a 8GB memory card for music storage, the sound quality I found very satisfactory.
Downside is the Bluetooth not being compatible with other makes of phone, I am investigating to see if there is a way around this. No camera also but in hindsight I never really used it much on previous phones and to be honest camera phones never give a good quality pictue anyway.
Overall I would say if you are looking for a phone/pda to organise your life then this could be the one for you. Internet connection is fast and a nice size screen to view it on! Keypad is easy to use and the "pearl" trackball makes navigation a doddle.

  A great looking let down.
Review created: 15/07/08

I must agree it is a great looking gadget, however I am very disappointed. The main reason I purchased it was to use it for online trading. I downloaded my brokers trading platform without any problems, but unfortunately I cannot log into it, let alone checking share prices and charts - probably my network, T mobile, prevents me from doing so as it also prevents me from using email facilities without paying an extra £7.50 fee. I can use the GPS, but without the mapping facilities, for which T mobile also wants to charge me an extortionate extra £10 a month, it is completely useless.
As mentioned, a great looking gadget, but if you want to use the applications of which it is supposedly capable, be prepared to be ripped off monthly by your network provider. My rating therefore, average. Unless you want to show off with its looks and the status it apparently carries, don't bother.

Excellent device - ideal for those needing access to email without being in a wireless zone or in the office.

The GPS is great and gets a first fix quickly.

Lots of bells and whistles for those into that sort thing but still very sleek and stylish --- definitely not a brick unlike so many alternatives.

Very easy to set-up using the documentation provided and easy to navigate around the menus with the trackball.
Bluetooth works very well with a “Parrot” hands-free unit in the car.
The QWERTY keyboard is a little difficult to handle for long SMS/emails but this problem has been solved by purchasing, for £50.00, an external keyboard which communicates beautifully via Bluetooth.
If you are looking for a phone/PDA to organise your life, this is the one for you.

Hi All,

Most Important thing on buying from Ebay is read Each & eveything that written by the Seller which is very important to get an clear idea about the item that you are buying. Im really happy with the purchase I did on Ebay apart from one item which the seller still making mess of it. But as I paid through PayPal my money or item is safe. Thanks to them.

Before ending the bid make sure always to investigate the market price for that item & mae a desicion for ur max bid. Sometimes U get out of controll at the last mins of the bidding.

GOOD LUC FOR ALL OF U.

  RIM BlackBerry 8800
Review created: 28/09/08

This particular device is a must have, if you prefer reliability and quality over "trendyness".
It's very reliable smartphone, with expectionally loooong battery life. Regarding the CPU speed, it's such a powerhorse in a very small frame, and I think that the lack of camera does not decreases the overall coolness of this device.
The multimedia capabilities are very good too, I'm using it with an OEM stereo headset, and the sound is nice, of course, it's not like a professional headset, but still very-very enjoyable.
The video playback is crisp on the 320*240, 65k+ display. And you can carry around so much music or video on an SD-card. With OS 4.5, it can even take 8 GB cards!
It's perfectly good for "users", but if you like to tinker with your phone, then you will find, that the OS can be customized very nicely.
After all, this is my phone of choice, and I don't think that I ever change it, except if a new RIM device comes out that can perform better! ^^

  Good but prefer 8310
Review created: 06/07/08

Over all a very good phone as with most Blackberrys. I bought this as a replacement for the Blackberry Curve (8310) as i cracked the screen by dropping it.
If given the chose though I think I would still prefer the 8310 for looks, size and the fact that it has a camera.

Blackberry 8800 Is A Phone Too!!
Review created: 05/07/08
by:
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

I brought this blackberry 8800 because of it's features, the only thing it's missing was a camera but found I hardly ever used this feature anyway.
The setting up was simple once I got an internet and e-mail service added to my phones package. Not having to power-up my pc or laptop to check up on my e-mails is a great time saver!! Surfing the full internet on the move is always handy thing to be able to do, giving me impotant information when needed when not near a pc or laptop.
The maps feature is also v-handy, if you dont want to subscribe to a map GPRS provider, Google Maps is good and reiliable and being free to download is a bonus.
You sometimes forget this is a phone as well!
All this without even mentioning the basic phone features such as texting being simple and a painless procedure shows how handy this blackberry is.

wow....wat a beautiful device
everything on here is good..especialy the looks of this product
however, NO CAMERA! bt dat aent too bad...another problem is that the OS is similar to the older blackberries which is annoying...

the only recomendation i have for RIM is to make a better OS and install some good cameras in their devices.
overall....the product is average as the looks and functionality is excellent

New sealed Blackberry 8800, just got to learn how to use the thing now!! Full email and text facililties as well as a mobile phone.

If you like PDA's you'll find it a lot easier to use than a Sony Erikkson P990i.
