Queen - On Fire - Live At The Bowl (DVD 2004)

Released a year after Live at Wembley, Live at the Bowl gives rock fans a chance to see Queen on their fantastic Hot Space tour in 1982. The DVD was filmed live at the Milton Keynes Bowl, a new venue at the time, where the band decided to play following a sell out tour. It was a strange venue to play because it was enormous and in the day light for part of the show!

Disc 1 of the 2 DVD set, contains the whole show - uncut. It contains the classic songs like Under Pressure, Bohemian Rhapsody, Another One Bites The Dust, We Will Rock You, We Are The Champions etc but also contains many other songs which casual rock fans may not have heard of. Some of these songs were from the bands fairly unsuccessful Hot Space album. However, these songs are really brought to life on stage becoming upbeat and Brian May's 'singing' guitar becoming prominant. The first time I watched this, I was struggling to stay in my seat - I was blown away.

Disc 2 contains some extra features for your enjoyment - admittedly they are not as comprehensive as the ones on Live at Wembley but they are still worth a look. There are the usual interviews (filmed in 1982), theres a previously unseen photo show and also highlights from Japanese and Austrian gigs from the same tour.

The approximate running time is 2hrs 50mins, with the concert itself lasting nearly 1hr 45mins. It is just amazing to see how frontman Freddie Mercury interactes with the crowd and how the lights interact with the music.

There is an accompanying 2CD set, which contains the concert, but be warned - the CD version is slightly cut. This is a must have in anybodys collection!

For those Queen fans who thought they had every track - there are a few on here that were not regularly part of their stage set. - Filmed on the "Hot Space" tour in 1982, this DVD contains footage of rarely performed live tracks such as Action this day,Staying Powewr and Back chat.
Along with most of the usual favourites this is a DVD not to be missed. All the standard crowd pleasers are there and with a 2nd DVD included a rare chance to see Queen performing Teo Toriatte live in Japan to a most appreciative audience. - Coverage on this 2nd DVD also comes from Austria, and for Queen afficionados there are inverviews with several of teh band - A happy couple of hours to take you back to the days when Freddie prowled the stage - buy it, you WILL enjoy it!

Not previously familiar with Queen but realising that I do like the fat orchestrated sound of theirs, I decided to investigate them by buying their music, but also to get it as a live concert DVD, because I realised that they must be "best in concert". As I was only going to buy one DVD, I went for the one that was best rated in the local store and I found it much cheaper to buy on ebay. I saved up to 14 pounds! The best thing about it is that it really gives you a good idea of Queen and how they were in concert. The DVD is probably also very good to put on in the background if you ever have a party. The worst thing about it is that it is lacking "Flash", "The show must go on" and "Who wants to live forever". All the other known songs are on there with an amazing "Bohemian rapsody".

Anyone that likes Queen Music will love this dvd! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fantastic DVD set from Queen, the 1982 concert is superb, with great vocals by Freddie Mercury. And the bonus DVD is execptional too.

i have brought this dvd as a present for a friend who is a big queen fan so the next time i visit (end of may) we will be watching it and im sure we will not be disapointed. the condition of this dvd is excellent iam very pleased thank you.

I love Queen! Excellent concert as always- but the best for me were: "Save me" and "Play the game"....I can listen to them over and over again.

I love watching Freddie Mercury and hearing the famous tunes. But I always feel sad that he died which means that once I have seen all his live shows, that will seem like the very end.
Being filmed live does give the DVD a special atmosphere
