Hammer productions perfect Gem,

This movie is in my view Hammer's best. Nigel Kneale's excellent story combined with good sets, great direction and fine actors add to the overall effect and result in a thoroughly enjoyable film.Yes some of the SFX may leave a little to be desired, there may be a goof or two, yet somehow these are overlooked, whilst the viewer takes in the storyline and soaks up the atmosphere and ambience, leading to an exciting and hard to predict climax.
Do look carefully for meaningful facial expressions from nearly all the characters, especially Barbara Shelley ( Miss Judd ) and the superb over acting by Duncan Lamont ( Sladden ) in the church scene, Anrew Keir played the Quatermass part to perfection, indeed all the casting was spot on. I have watched this movie many times and never seem to tire of it, there is not a single dull moment throughout, the music score blends in beautifully and flows along in harmony, but never overpowers. Do remember this is a 40 year old production, British film-making at it's very best.
