Q And A (DVD 2003)

i bought it because id seen it before and wanted to see it again.all the acting in this film is excellent but nick nolte is simply breathtaking!
even though he isnt always on screen,it is definitely HIS film.how...in the name of god did he not get a nomination(at least) for best actor is beyond me and i think he should have won the best actor oscar ahead of anthony hopkins--he was that good!the film itself is excellent.there is alot of bad and racist language that is not for the easily offended,the script is top notch and so is the acting.there is no doubt though that it is nick nolte that makes the film tick;everything about his performance was spot on.the gravel voice,the build(for which he put on a couple of stone),not just the words he says but the way he says it.he comes out with some excellent one-liners;e.g.i chew up fucking wise-guys and spit out fags!the body language,the facial expressions and the look in his eyes make him look like the ultimate sleeze all film.the fact that he is playing a corrupt cop and is supposed to be on the right side of the law makes him even more detestable.a very enjoyable film that is spoilt a little with the romance between timothy hutton's character(reilly)and nancy because it slows the film down a bit,but never the less,2 hours well spent if you like films of this kind!i believe this is better than one night in manhattan but others might disagree and if someone could tell any film performance that year that was better than nick nolte's,then i would be very interested in seeing it!
