Don't Read the Book First!!

Do you ever read a book then watch the film and spend the whole time criticising the film makers for not sticking to the story? I am so glad I didn't read the book first in this case. This is a fantastic film, but not one you want to watch with people talking over (or other things!) - you really need to watch it properly. Don't think too much about what's going on or you'll confuse yourself, it all explains itself in the end. I found it even great to watch second time round. By all means read the book afterwards, it's just as gripping but totally different in a lot of ways. It's almost like two similar things with the same title, rather than being the same story. I read the book after watching the DVD and was struck by how different it was, but I couldn't put it down. Then I watched the film again and it was amazing how many little things I'd missed. If you don't like period dramas just forget what it says about that in the film - the setting fits the story perfectly. The feel wouldn't be the same in modern times. I'm not saying any more, you can read the dvd cover for yourself, but I promise you'll be glad you tried it
