Remarkable tribute to the horror flix of the 1970s, complete with fake scratches and an apology for a "missing reel". Director Robert ("Sin City") Rodriguez squeezes every ounce of horror out of what is in effect a particularly gruesome zombie movie. Best feature: a busty wench who has a machine gun instead of a right leg! Cast includes Bruce Willis, Quentin Tarantino and Rose McGowan.

  Grindhouse at its best

I can safely say i really enjoyed this film lots of cameos by well known faces and the way the film is made makes you feel like your in a fleapit cinema from days long gone before cinema became so commercialized. The crackly distorted sound and effects to make it feel like a well worn projector film reel just add to the atmosphere of the film it even has a supposed missing reel! Add to this cool zombies, plenty of action, cheesy lines, atmospheric music and plenty of scantily clad chicks this really is a film geeks wet dream!! I enjoyed Deathproof but personally I think this is better and more fun to watch then again you cannot beat a good zombie movie in my opinion!!!

Where do you start? It's probably the best horror I've seen since House of a 1000 corpses. I've never really come across grindhouse before but if this and it's paired film Death Proof are anything to go by, I will be watching loads more. Out of the two films released as Grindhouse in the states, this is by far the superior horror, it has its tongue firmly in its cheek and uses the techniques of making it look like a drive in movie to add an extra element to the film.
I really don't want to go on about zombies, shoot ups, trying to open a door with your wrist as you don't have the use of your hands or strippers with a machine gun leg or why anyone would carry a monkey bike in their boot, I think you can see that from the box.
Just know if you grab some popcorn, turn down the lights and sit back with this baby, your in for one hell of a fun ride.

Planet Terror in my opinion was the better of the two films within Grindhouse. Over the top action, ridiculous blood shots and gross out scenes (one particular involving a very special cameo) are pulled off perfectly and the laughs and Desperado-ish fight scenes come flying off the screen a mile a minute. A zombie classic!

yet another awesome movie by R. Rodriguez

Rodriguez uses his favourite weapons once again : light humor, attaching but larger than life characters and totally improbable weapons ... In this zombie movie, separate stories get together as some zombie plague spreads and destoys the city, with some military acting strange. And another very good score by Rodriguez himself.

Awesome flick. I loved every minute. Really witty and well scripted. The directing is top notch i can't fault it. The actors all give great performances and Freddy Rodriguez is great. Stupid story yes, but that is the idea - it is by far one of the best zombie flicks ever. Rose mcGowan and her gun leg absolutely rule - and their are loads of iconic images and set pieces. Very very very gory, very funny, totally off the wall and unexplained. Great cinematography - the thing is so rich and livid with colour - it is a thing of beauty. another plus is the death of Tarantino in it!!! yay! go and watch it now - but not if your squeamish.

  Horror Satire or Satire Horror?
Review created: 01/10/09

The script is a goulash of garish exploitation movie moments skewered for every ounce of amusement at their outlandish hyperbole and bathos. Put on this pair of andy warhol fun-spex through which Robert Rodriguez views and enjoys trash cinema and you will see it in the way he sees it.

Gonna' have to lose the arm, Joe.

When a chemical virus gets loose in a small town, it can only mean big trouble!
Those who are affected become mutated, sore-ridden zombies. And the survivors - a band of misfits, each with their own demons - must find a way of escape.

Part of the Tarantino / Rodriguez GRINDHOUSE double, this classicly-styled zombie splatter-house film is a first-class creeper. Shot in digital but with various computer generated effects, this movie doesn't take long to star shocking you.
A complete and solid movie, Planet Terror delivers on all fronts: Plenty of imaginative gore, a neat and speedy plot line, great acting and Special Effects that are so well done, you only see those that the director WANTS you to pick-up on (eg. the distressing of the print) and not the others (Leg/Gun/Leg?)

I purchased the single disc edition. This comes with a Director Commentary, an Audience reaction track, a COMICON stage Q&A, trailers and a Poster Gallery.

Overall, a first-class film and well worthy of the Grindhouse assocciation. One for the Uber-blood fan. Place next to John Carpenters THE THING and George A. Romero's DAY OF THE DEAD.

Get in the Drinks. Get in the Crisps. But, maybe forget the dipping sauce!

Fairly dumb-ass movie, but that's the idea. Did a good job of sticking to the source material of shlocky low budget 70s-80s straight to video fare. Enjoyable

Planet Terror Review - Gory & Exciting!
Review created: 01/05/08

Rodriguez's half of Grindhouse is as good as Death Proof, and considerably more entertaining. McGowan is a suitably sexy lead with a machine gun for a leg, and plenty of gelatinous zombie blood. Very fun, but not for the squamish!

What a film!! really enjoyed this one Blood,Limbs and bodies flying all over the place.
Black comedy horror with babes thrown in for good measure, will have you either crying with laughter, cringing at the blood or amazed at the violence not for the faint hearted!!!
Bought as I had seen a trailer for it and thought wow that looks cool.
If you like this type of film you will not be disappointed.
Next up is Deathproof!,looks just as good and made the same way!!!!!!!!!!
