Pitch Black (DVD 2001)

A great film, full of action & strange creatures in the dark.... great to watch, will be watching again and not just for Vin Diesels looks, muscles & voice!! ;)

Love the film Vin Diesel is excellant and The Chronicles of Riddick is even better great for Sci-Fi, Action and Fantasy DVD lovers I would highly reccomend

I really enjoyed this film (and not just for Vin Diesel!!!!)The effects are good without overcrowding the film and detracting from the story. It has a good plotline and convincing and realistic characters who react in very different ways to the crisis they face. If you like Sci-fi you'll love this film (The chronicles of Riddick is also a cracker)

I like everything about it.I saw part of it on TV once and always wanted to own it,besides being fictional,unlike other movies in its genre, its got a good story to it,its not boring.

this is a great film ..full of action and weird creatures that i wouldnt want to meet in the dark..vin diesel with his shaven head and bulging muscles saves the day as always...

This film was the at pinnacle of Vin Diesels career. He portrays Riddick, and introduces us to the villian/hero in a fantastic way. The film itself is a perfect mix of sci fi and thriller so appeals to a really wide audience.

Pitch Black is a fast moving film, and the story line is easy to follow. The action scenes and special effects are brilliant, and will keep you on the edge of your seats from Start to Finish - Guarenteed!!!!

After seeing Chronicles of Riddick i just had to see how the story started off with Pitch Black. I wasn't dissapointed. I'm a Vin Diesel fan aswell. When i bought the film it was a great and easy transaction aswell.

took the notion to buy pitch black after seeing chronicals of riddick turned on computer and had it bought cheaper than anywhere else on net in a few minutes. haven't had too much trouble from ebay so still trust how it operates this seller was really prompt with the delivery and the disk was in mint condition very happy.

An absolutely BRILLIANT film - and you cant really go wrong with Vin Diesel as the main role - PHWAR!!!!

I like the whole movie from start to finish, its a great si fi, and its follow on chronicles of riddick carries this story with more great action and leaves you hoping for another to follow...

Sci horror flick about a group of law types and people in search of an escaped convict.Upon his capture they become stranded on an alien planet where they have to survive some local bird like creatures to make it out alive.
Cool film, worth watching.

this is a gd quality film which can be enjoyed time after time, the second film is evan better, vin diesal is definatley a guy you can watch no matter what film his in, another one of his films thats gd is the pacifier

What can I say? Anything with Vin Diesel in is going to be a hit with me - I am a big fan of Vin Diesel, so I think this would go down well with me. He does a good turn as the evil Riddick, murderer extraodinaire and his eyes! I want a pair of contacts just like his! He looks hot, the film's hot and the sequel, The Chronicles of Riddick is even better! Do yourself a favour and watch this. You might just like this!

The ship crash scene at the start is pretty good, followed by a load of excellent set peices, mainly involving the creatures.Quiet a few CGI moments. A nice head spliting, Poor Claudia bites the bullet and parts company with her legs and many more death scenes that involve the red stuff.

Good movie for all sci-fi nuts

This has to be one of the all time great sci fi movies. Van Diesel is superb as the "bad guy".
If you have a DTS surround sound system make sure you get a compatible disc as the sound is absolutely fantastic.
What more can I say except buy this film!

This is truly a masterpiece of Science Fiction and an interesting study in human nature with profound messages similar to those in films such as Fahrenheit 451, The Day the Earth Stood Still, Metropolis, Logan's Run, and Blade Runner.
The internal struggles of the characters (spirituality, self-sacrifice, temptation, suspicions, addiction, guilt, mastery of fear, human kindness, self-interest, resourcefulness, etc.) add a tremendous amount of depth to the story. The guilt of the captain over her early impulsive actions and the penance she ultimately pays for her mistake are deeply touching and almost made me cry. The stark landscape setting really allows us to focus on the characters - their personalities, motives, relationships, actions, etc. The emulation of Jack for Riddick is beautifully done, very quickly and easily charming us to both characters.

Pitch Black is a good watch, if your into actioor sci-fi films i would advise watching it. Throughout most of the film the plot moves on at a nice speed the film is only slow in a few places.
I would not rate it as being as good as the sequal Chronicles of Riddick.

Story:
A dark, atmospheric sci-fi thriller with a sharp sense of humor. When a spacecraft crashes on a mysterious planet, the remaining survivors turn to Riddick (Diesel), a convicted murderer, to help them survive. It appears that the only life form on the planet is a dangerous species of flesh-eating alien that emerges from underground when darkness appears. Before long, the abandoned passengers realize that a rare eclipse is about to immerse the planet in darkness, declaring open season on each and every one of them.

Comments:
Great movie for all ages ( except small children ) .
Vin Diesel at his best with his dark goggles protecting his eyes from the sun, as he had a operation that he can see in the dark.

I have in the past 3 - 4 years purchased a number of DVD's and the thing I tried to do was if there were sequels, I wanted a complete set. I had recently bought Chronicles of Riddick but did'nt have Pitch Black, the first of the 2 films. I have liked these types of films all my life, ie : sci-fi, or better still sci-fi horror. At present my collection is growing, I have over 100 DVD films most of which are action packed sci-fi or horror, or both. Vin Diesel is also one of my favourit actors, you can almost guarantee if he's in it, it's going to be unmissable, and if you miss out on any of his movies, you'll wish you had'nt.
