Pioneer KEH-P7020R Car Cassette Player

One of the best Units from Pioneer, I know these are not the trend any more these days but they are still used on a large scale by lot of people.

CombineD with a CD Changer possibly 12 stack unit they are as good as having an MP3 unit.

RDS, Radio Text, Title your own CDs, Compatable with lot of old and new P-Series CD Changers 12 or 6 stack which ever suits you.

This Unit is packed with lot of feature and fun to operate with nice OEL display with 7 different screen savers, switch the screen saver by pres of button.

Screen Savers vary from Dolphins, Helicopter, Clock, EQ and so on........

There is one thing you got to keep in mind about this system that the trim on front is not detachable if thats a problem you might wanna go for its big brother the KEH-P8010R which is another nice peice of equipment.

The Pioneer KEH-P7020 was a flagship cassette head unit a couple of years ago, but you can still buy it new at some ICE outlets for £200+. I already had the previous top of the range KEH-P6900 and the sound quality of that was excellent. The sound of the '7020 is mindblowing. You can adjust the sound exactly as you want, with equaliser adjustments for bass, mid and treble. The display is a bit gimmicky but my kids seem to like watching the various graphics moving around on the well backlit display.
I have the KEH-P7020 connected up to the CD-IB100 Ipod interace with passthrough to a 6 CD changer unit, so all my audio needs are catered for.
The steering wheel remote works very well at many positions and is a safe and easy way to navigate the tracks from the various audio sources.
Since my previous set up was similar, it took me about half an hour to install and set the sound quality to my preference.
It has provisions for 3 seperate amplifiers for the output, I haven't got these installed yet so I can't comment on the sound quality, although the stock unit is good, I would expect the sound with amplifiers would be awesome!!.
I managed to pick the head unit up at the incredible price of £35 plus £10 postage, to say this is a gift would be an undrestatement. As I previously mentioned you can still buy it new at £200+ and I have even seen it advertised at £350+.
The casstte deck has given my old tapes a new lease of life, with dolby B selected there is no hiss and no loss of top frequency sound unlike cheeper head units. The cassette player also plays Metal and Chrome cassettes and slters the the sound to compensate for this higher quality format.
The only niggle I have is when an Ipod is installed via the CD-IB100 the track listing information doesn't fill the whole of the screen. It shows only the first 8 or so characters on the right with no scrolling option so I cannot read the full track details playing. It seems strange, since the screen is large enough. Only a niggle as I said and it doesn't alter the fact this is a very, very good head unit.
If you need to play cassette tapes and want to listen to a CD changer and Ipod from your car, than you could do far worse than buy the set up I currently have installed in my car.
