Philips RQ1085 Electric Shaver

I have been a regular user of Philips electric razors for some years. The current razor on/off switch packed up and I decided to go for the new model. The store price was more than I wanted to pay so I bought from Ebay. I got a reasonable bargain and it arrived in good time. I am delighted with the smooth close shave and flexible three track heads which make shaving the neck and throat area much quicker and more comfortable. The heads are easy to clean daily by running hot water over and through them. Personally I brush out the hair from the blade cups first. The recharging and cleaning pod provides an intense clean and recharge about once a week. The drawback is that if you use this too often the cleaning fluid has to be replaced too quickly. My model has a convenient rigid travel pod and can be locked to prevent accidental activation. The razor can also be charged in the travel pod using the plug and flex supplied. It would be nice if after all these years Philips supplied a wall plug compatible with the UK sockets.

I thought it was about time to try an electric shaver instead of my usual gillette blades. As buying blades, shaving foam etc starts to add up over the year, so then it does not seem that much for an electric shaver.

I went for the Philips RQ1085 as it does the same as the RQ1095 apart from the super duper cleaner. I was also looking at cheaper ones with HS series nivea sachets but they are not that cheap to buy & a friend has one & he does not use the sachets so what is the point.

Also the RQ1085 has 3 sets of blades on each head opposed to the 2 heads on the HS8020. I have also found out it is also a lot quieter than the HS8020. I still think the RQ1085 is quiet noisey but I have not seen any other apart from the HS8020.

It does work very well but it does not seem to catch my white/grey hairs as well as I think they are softer & do not stand up as much! The sideburn trimmer is also useful at trimming longer hairs before shaving. The whole shaving head comes off when using the side trimmer.

I like:
The short charge time.
The length of time you can shave on one charge. Over 2 weeks from 1 charge.
Side burn trimmer.
Triple heads & flexible shaving head.
Travel case.

I do not like:
The noise!
The way it does not catch the soft white hairs.

It is smooth to the face, very easy to clean and gives a very close shave. I had used a Philishave previously and considered it better than the last make of electric razor I had. An excellent product.

I have been shaving for over 50 years with electric shavers of different kinds but this is a whole NEW EXPERIENCE!
Never tried a Philips before but recommended by Which Magazine and the 'gadgest' programme on Channel 5... so never too late to try...?
Instructions were at 'nerd' level and could be greatly improved? However once I got the hang of it I have nothing but total PRAISE for the quality, ease-of-use and technology!!
Frankly it is giving me the best shave in those 50 years!!
It may be quite costly but I would recommend it to anyone looking for a "REALLY GOOD" new shaver!

This shaver was bought after having seen it come second place in Channel 5's Gadget Show review. I bought it for my boyfriend as a Christmas present and I've never seen him so enthusiastic about shaving. He absolutely loves it especially the gadget side of it with it's cleaning station. After using it his face is soft and smooth.

I'm not sure how long the battery lasts for as he keeps it in its cradle charging most of the time. As far as I can see it works very well and I'm very pleased with the results. I would definitely recommend this product.

VERY CLOSE SHAVE JUST GLIDES ON THE SKIN SUPER SMOOTH GLAD I BOUGHT.LOVE IT AND VERY STYLISH. ONLY FAULT I HAVE WITH THE SHAVER IS THE PRICE BUT THEN THE SHAVE IS ABOUT THE BEST IVE USED --------- NO MORE WET SHAVING FOR ME.

Reason for buying advertisement and Phillips are the usual make I go for. I like it because it gives a very close shave due to the movable head.
