I have always used Philshave Cool systems, BUT they do eventually stop working, my last one had lasted over 5 years so I was more than happy to go for another Philips Philishave, I chose this one as the price was right (Make an offer price).

It has lived up to my expectations, good close shave, very very long battery life, nice looking piece of equipment.

Nothing to dislike it is just the bees knees.

  Phiishave cool system shaver

I needed a replacement shaver and decided that the principle of an electric shaver that perfomed like wet shave was a great idea. I am very satisfied with the performance of the shaver, but the downside is the cost of the satchets of balm/lotion, even when buying off the internet the cost of postage, makes the shaver expensive to use. I have found that ordinary shaving balm is okay to use and I have been using the razor with this for the last two weeks and I am satisfied with the shave I am getting, so I am not using the Philips satchet principle.

sensitive skin problems? this is the shaver for you!

for years, i've used a wet shave and had all sorts of skin problems, given i have "sensitive skin" - cutting myself to ribbons, getting rashes etc, with balms and lotions only making the situation worse. i tried all sorts of oils (hemp oil being the best) and sensitive shaving creams, all with mixed results.

Having had bad experiences with a standard foil electric shaver in my teens, i was wary of forking out for an expensive electric shaver, though i was recommended to try a rotary philips shaver.

a year and a half ago, after being pushed by my father in law to spend the money and give it a go, i bought a philips philishave and spent over £100 on one in a january sale. I liked the features of the philishave over other electric razors: namely the fact you could shave in the shower, it dispensed shaving cream and had a travel lock with quick charge time and long shave time in between charges. When i got it home, charged it and tried it out, i was impressed at once, though it took a couple of weeks for my skin to get used to the new electric razor. The two gels you get to try were handy, finding i liked one type over the other - one giving me a rash, the other no problems whatsoever.

I have used this shaver everyday, sometimes twice a day to top up if going out somewhere smart. It's been a joy to use, so easy to clean and has never let me down. That was until last week when for some inexplicable reason, it started malfunctioning: not charging, then refusing to start working, only for it to then start and not stop again. I tried to get it looked at under warranty, then found the guarantee had lapsed, meaning a 40 minute drive to take it to the nearest service outlet. i decided to open it up and try to see what was wrong and glad i did, as all the main components were badly corroded.

i wasn't very happy with this, after just short of 2 year's use, so looked at other new shavers. I didn't like the idea of forking out another £100 - £200 to get the same features and found few outlets stocked this model which (barring the recent failure) i had been so impressed with.

So i looked on ebay, found this seller offering a brand new one (same model) and for only £60 - bargain!

So, despite the corrosion issue, it hasn't put me off buying the same one again and now i have spares, just in case something goes wrong with this one.

I think the corrosion may be due to the way i stored the shaver - on its strap, hanging from a hook. It says in the book that this is the "optimal" way to dry the razor, but i'm not so sure, as the corrosion was all around the head of the shaver, which points down as you store it by the strap & hook. This time, i will use the stand provided, so the moisture can drain downwards away from the electronics inside. If i get another 1.5 years out of this one, it'll be a price worth paying.

a good shaver, which i'd highly recommend, just be aware of the corrosion potential in the way you dry it out.

if you have sensitive skin, go for this model!

Quick charge and long life, the cartridges are a bit quick to use up so I just used small ammount of shaving gel and worked a treat, very close shave and easy to use, great backup shaver if you have to shave every day as you don't cut your face to pieces you can't beat a wet shave though.Good buy and will last the distance.

A top of the range shaver I thought would rival a wet shave. I have tried others and they have not performed well enough. THIS ONE DOES! The shaving gel helps to give a very smooth and close shave too. No soreness or irritation after shaving is a big bonus. Sophisticated Technology with simple instructions and a built in demonstration. Money very well spent, I love it, and recommend it.
