Philips PET730 7 in. Portable DVD Player with Screen

I have purchased the product with intention to use it as a picture/photographs viewer for my school reunion abroad after 20 years (instead of carrying a laptop or having to print out a lots of pictures for a photo album). I was pressed for time to find a suitable solution. I thought DVD player with a function to view the photographs would be perfect so I have purchased the product.

I found the product absolutelly unsuitable for this purpose inspite that it has got a function to view the pictures. The resolution when viewing the pictures was very poor and the viewing was very slow. In addition the mechanism was very noisy.

I have tried to use the product as a DVD player, and the quality of picture was all right as well as the sound. I will probably keep this product as a DVD player when travelling or on holiday.

Nowing all of this prior to my purchase, I would not buy this product at all. I would first try similar products of higher parameters somewhere in a store with appliances to find the one I would be happy with and then buy it on e-bay.

Bought this as a christmas present for my 8 year old boy who seems to have everything apart from the kitchen sink in his bedroom (I'am thinking about swapping rooms!!) and I'd run out of ideas.

When he opened it his eyes lit up and since then he has not put it down (which is surprising given the number of games consules around).

It's very user friendly, very portable (used around the house, in the car and out and about) but I'am scared of leaving my lad in the back of the car and going off on holiday as he has lost the will to communicate with the rest of the family.

I would certainly recommend this manufacturer / model to anybody wishing to purchase a portable DVD player in the future.
