Noise cancelling headphones

I don't watch a lot of tv, but I don't like to sit in a room on the laptop on my own (sometimes I do but that's another story).
I like to use my laptop in the same room as the noisy(ish) tv. I was a bit sceptical about noise cancellng headphones. They do reduce certain frequencies better than others; I knew that before I purchased. And I paid quite a small amount for them (around £13 with p&p). The quoted reduction is 12db at 300hz, I have seen quite a few for sale with only 10db reduction at the same frequency. As this is my first set I cant really make comparisons apart from the quoted figures. These headphones are dead comfy, I can wear them for hours with no undue discomfort that you find with many over the ear or in ear types. This set rest flush on the ears and I was tempted to get the kind that fully enclose your ears, but again these headphones do put pressure on the bony bit just behind my earlobe. I would recommend these headphones for the price and comfort.
