Philips DVP3120 Player

Very good machine that I purchased for under £24 through Ebay (including postage). It can be made multi region very easily with the hack mentioned already. Mine already came multi region enabled thanks to the seller. There is no open/close button on the remote, but this can be bypassed by holding down the stop button for 4 seconds which does the same thing.
The only weakness is that it doesn't play the DVD -RWs that I stupidly recorded on a DVD recorder in VR mode. I guess I should have used video mode, and suppose that this would have worked ok. The DVD -Rs that I recorded on the same machine worked fine on te Philips player, once I realised that I needed to 'finalise' them first on the DVD recorder.

Good value for the price; well worth it.

This is got to be one of the best dvd players i have ever purchased. Not only is it small in size with a stylish design, but is multi-regional so can play all dvds basically! I highly recommend it!

This is a bargain! I was after a budget DVD player and this one ticks all of the boxes. It's very compact and asthetically pleasing, has no region setting, plays all discs and was under £25 delivered. I can't fault it.

With the press of a few buttons (the code and instructions can easily be googled) this fantastic dvd player can easily be made multi-region.

Having started Dog Training, I was very interested in Cesar Millan's DVDs, but found out my current DVD player would not play them. So started looking for a multi-regional DVD player, but the local shops told me they do not have any and they do not sale them, only ones for region 2. Down hearted I found what I was looking for. The Philips DVP3120, DVD Player is great as you can play any DVD from any Country. This DVD player is well worth buying, with a price that suits all pockets. It is easy to use and there is no need to put in codes for different regions. It has a progressive scan, Dolby Digital and Energy Star all of which means nothing to me. All I know it does I what and I am very, very pleased with my DVD Player.

DVD Player arrived within 3 days in excellent condition. Far easier than going to the shops. Also much cheaper and easier to order than I thought it would be. Will be using ebay in the future.

This DvD player is a life saver. I couldn't watch any other region DvD's, now all is well and I am a very happy person.It is a great, easy to us DvD player. Thankyou.

I purchased this model of DVD player because of its ease to use. Its simple to work without a zillion buttons that you dont need. Its playing quality is excellent as you would expect from Philips. Its slimline and stylish at an affordable price.

i decided to buy the philips d v d multi regional because of the many bargains that can be bought i e dvds which are region 1 for example,the reason i wanted the philips model speaks for itself,a manufacturer that is very well known and can be trusted. the dvp3120 model is light and slim and not as bulky as many other brands,the remote control is easy to operate and the instructions are well defined,i have had one or two e-mails sent to me asking me how to play a region 1 dvd as the dvds they have purchased on e-bay will not play on their dvd player,i have advised to buy this multi-regional model and will continue to do so. the increasing flow of region 1dvds will increase greatly as will the need for multi-regional dvd players, i expect in the near future ALL dvd players will be multi-regional Philips should [ in my opinion ] make all of their models from now on multi-regional, i believe their will be a huge demand from now on for multi-regional dvd players because e-bayers can buy from america, canada etc etc, a lot of the dvds are cheaper and a great many which are out of stock or hard to find can be bought on e-bay from the u s a and canada,i have at least a dozen region 1 dvds which are no problem to play on my Philipsdvd recorder. i have and will continue to recommend Philips,when shopping for anything,especially electrical you know when it says Philips it is quality. yours sincerely sannysnow.

Good Points: Easy to use. Solid.

Bad Points: Limited buttons on front of machine. Depends on remote. Died after a few years.

General comments: The Philips DVP3120 is a good basic machine with multi-region capability after applying a hack code but it died after 3 years and I had hardly used it. Others have written reviews stating that it died after one year--they probably used it more often. It was cheap and I basically got what I paid for--as with any cheap appliance. Doesn't last that long.

for something so cheap it's surprisingly good. the settings can also be changed to multi region. i would certainly recommend it.

Love this DVD. I am not great with technology but it couldn't have been easier to set up. All you need is to connect it with just one scart lead and you're away. The remote is user friendly as is the DVD. I would recommend this product.

A Quality item at an amazing price. Wanted a multi-region DVD player as my laptop no longer recognises region 1 and my little boy was devastated! It would have cost me more to replace his DVDs than the player cost! Also, as I've got a modern Phillips TV, having a compatible DVD player has made film watching a full time hobby! The sound and picture quality is exceptional and the remote is user-friendly!
There's not a thing I can honestly say I dislike about this model , it is however really sensitive to finger prints on the DVDs themselves, but this is easily resolved.
In all, I'd say a good investment, especially as I enjoy cult kids movies, many of which are unavailable in our region.

This DVD player was a reconditioned unit, so some of the playback issues I have may be related to that.

The unit is tiny! It's a little bigger than a laptop computer, and as thick as 2 PS3 game boxes. The remote is just as small, but the buttons are big enough for even this sausage fingered guy to use. The functions are intuitive, so you won't spend too much time hunting for "what do I do now?".

The only thing I have a problem with is the picture quality. I don't think it's my TV, it's only a few years old. I had to supply my own SCART lead, so that might have something to do with it. The picture is grainy, and there is a lot of interferance (signal degrading with the result that the picture has some distortion), but overall it's not too bad. I think that a new, purpose-built SCART lead will help (I'm using one from a 15 year old VCR).

The DVD player plays my NTSC DVDS from Canada, and does everything it should. No functions are omited, and all the menues work properly. The player is reasonably quiet, and doesn't need too much room around it for cooling.

All in all, I'm happy with this purchase, and feel that if you buy one new (and not a reconditioned unit like I got) you'll be happy. There are better ones out there, but I doubt that they're as low priced.

I bought this dvd player to be able to play multi region dvds.It does the job excelently and I feel this player is very good value for money. I wouldn't hesitate to recomend it to other buyers.

I needed a new DVD player for the bedroom. Bought it so cheaply and it was a Philips product, a name to trust. Also being multi regional was a bonus. I am very pleased with it. It is slim and looks cool. The picture quality is amazing better than the panasonic we bought 5/6yrs ago and a third of the price. What is there not to like!!!!!

this item was for me dad when he is ill in bed he can watch film in bed it was a excellent buy and really small in size ok

Brilliant dvd player.
Plays all regions and for an affordable cost.
bit loud starting up though.
all in all very good.

Great piece of kit, just plug & play, was especially surprised at how thin the unit was, so slipped in over my current DVD player very nicely...
For the money & looks absolute gift..A+

The player stopped working after about 2 days but after some comunication with the seller a refund was given.

The player was very compact and neat, and was quiet when running. No eject button on the remote which was a bit strange.
