Philips CDR775 2-Disc CD Recorder

Having a large number of valued LPs, I was keen to preserve them from wear, and to be able to play them in a more convenient format. I tried a turntable connected to my computer, but the whole process was unsatisfactory, mainly because of timing problems and the fact that the CDs produced would not work on standard CD players.
The Philips machine has, so far, proved excellent. Recording is easy from other CDs, from tape cassettes, and from LPs. The resulting recordings seem to me to be identical with the originals. The Philips is also a very good CD player.
There are two minor drawbacks:
a) When recording, special blank AUDIO CD blanks have to be used; ordinary CD blanks will not record. These AUDIO blanks are rather more expensive, at about 20-25p each, but they will play on any machine. They are readily available from the Internet, but you must be careful to specify them as AUDIO blanks.
b) When recording from LPs or cassettes, my machine does not usually detect the gaps between pieces, and so usually records a whole LP side as only one track. Although it is easy to insert new track numbers using the remote control, it means that one has to monitor the recording process continuously.
Even so, for me, it has been remarkably useful, and I only wish I had acquired one years ago. I bought mine second-hand from the Internet; as new track numbers can be inserted ONLY by the remote control, it is essential that any would-be buyer takes note that a working remote control is included in the sale.
