Peter Gabriel - Us (CD 1992)

I bought Us on tape when it was originally released and considered it to be an instant classic.
The depth of feeling in "digging in the dirt" was astonishing for a start! I heard the single first and having been a long time fan, I had to have the album.
The production value set new standards at the time and left virtually everyone else out in the cold. Literally in my view.

I have listened to the CD a good few times since I bought it off ebay and enjoy it more now than I did then!
Gabriel was and is an accomplished songwriter/producer/musician and a visionary as his influence stretches beyond the hits and obvious tracks. Listen to "OVO" or "UP" and you'll know what I mean.

Peter Gabriel was the lead singer of GENESIS IN the early 70's, PETER GABRIEL is an icon to conceptual albums, in actual fact all his albums are concept in nature. SECRETWORLD IS a special Album, the meloncholy is absorbed in abstract moods which seem thru as each song is played.

The Music is unbeleivable in its strength to keep you attentive, many aspects of the album is a change of direction, in his previous albums there was a scenerio of attitude towards injustice in the world, but this albums brings out the injustice in humanity and the feeling of loss! In a real effort i listened to this, thats not a critical point of view, the album tells a story of totally being Human and the loss of that.

If you have not listened to any of his music listen to this, first, this album is so special, Kiss that Frog is a cheeky song, plays methodically but has a pop beat you will be surprised! As for the peter gabriel and genesis fans out there, Sean O'connor makes a guest appearance, her voice is so artistic and the way her voice falls into place is amazing. Loved to be Loved, the lyrics are so empowered, you wonder how the skeleton form of the lyrics delve into human ethos, its all about the need to be loved, and surely after listening to this if you don't show any emotion! (get the doctor!).

Secretworld name and song of the album is wonderful, if you have ever been in love and lost it! this song is for you, the special tale of summer feeling and being near nature to your partner the feeling of being back to your past and the present this is one major song an epic, i saw peter gabriel 3 times, he played this live in a faster tempo if you get the chance to see the dvd version go and buy it now also! you will not regret it!

As for the rest of the songs i will not spoil it you need to listen to the album its a real favourite of mine and spectacular empowerment of thought and feelings. I am sure you will not be dissapointed. 96/100 this album is so brilliant!
