PETE TOWNSHEND LIVE contains a bonus CD featuring Eddie Vedder recorded live during Pete Townshend's 1997 benefit for Maryville Academy.Personnel: Pete Townshend (vocals, acoustic & electric guitars); Eddie Vedder (vocals); Tracey Langran (hi-string guitar, background vocals); Peter Hope-Evans (harmonica, mouth organ); Jon Carin (keyboards, programming, background vocals); Chucho Merchan (bass, percussion); Jody Linscott (percussion).Recorded live at The House Of Blues, Chicago, Illinois on August 16, 1998.For years, Pete Townshend has performed a benefit concert at Chicago's House of Blues, with all of the proceeds going to the Maryville Academy (which helps treat physically, sexually, and emotionally abused children). 1999's double-disc PETE TOWNSHEND LIVE: A BENEFIT FOR MARYVILLE ACADEMY is made up of one disc of 11 solo highlights and a second bonus disc with longtime Who fan Eddie Vedder guesting on two tracks. Disc one contains an interesting cover, Canned Heat's "On the Road Again," as well as reworked Who nuggets ("Won't Get Fooled Again," "Magic Bus," "Drowned," and others), plus several solo compositions ("Let My Love Open the Door," "Now and Then"). This is easily Pete Townshend's best solo live album thus far, and like the concerts, all proceeds from the disc go to charity.
