Perfume - The Story Of A Murderer (DVD)

I bought this dvd and the book as my daughter was told it was a good 1 to read for her English. I have not read or watched it myself just looked on the back of them quickly, they sound quite interesting & I shall read it & watch the dvd once my daughter is finished with them.

One of the best films I have seen in recent years - but I could easily understand how many would dislike it. This is not your every day Hollywood output. They said that the book could never be made into a film - because the subject matter is all about the sesne of smell. I had not read the book - but did so on the strength of the film. For me the film exceeds the book - but if I'd read the book first I may not have thought so. Intelligent, challenging, well made and very different.

Great film, a strange dark fairy tale, the central character, the murderer is oddly animalistic and naive in an other worldly sense, you almost want to sympathise with his deranged plan. John Hurt offers beautiful narration. Made me want to read the book, to which the film is quite faithful and well worth the read also.

I bought it because I had read a review that said it was beutiful and very moving film

I found the dvd very strange I thought the person was heartless towards his victims and had no idea that what he was doing was so wrong. I wanted him to get punished for his crimes
I would not watch it again I will give it away to one of my daughters they may enjoy it more than I did
