I bought the *ist dl as a second body to back up my Pentax K10d, to shoot a couple of weddings, so I could have one with a 50mm f1.4 lens on it, and another with a sigma 28-200. It does the job very well, although the auto focus is noticably slower than the K10d.. It's a cracking little camera though, and because it's smaller and lighter than the K10d, I've even been taking JUST the *ist out with me for the sake of travelling light!
They're compatible with all the k-mount Pentax lenses too, some of the best glass in the world, and at this price, you can't go wrong!
IDEAL as a beginners DSLR. Buy one!

Thank you for voting. If your vote meets our First time Digital Camera.After reading the instructions for an hour I had enough knowledge to start taking photos. It is VERY user friendly especialy if you are a novice like me. I am already looking for another lens to expand on the already large potential.
The choice of this type of item is massive but I chose this one partly on reccomendation and partly but mainly because Pentax is a well known make with plenty of history. The price is much the same as others but my purchase was used but in excelent condition. I used Ebay because I trust their service and was not dissapointed.
