Great Camera based on my 6 days of constant use.

Only upgraded as my previous Pentax (S4) was 5 years old and after some 50000 pictures the battery no longer holds enough charge for my needs. I could have bought a new battery and problem solved but quite fancied an upgrade too :)

Anyway, the W60 is slightly larger than my old S4 but the screen is much bigger, personally i prefer an additional optical view finder but not really practical when using under water as i plan to do.

Using the camera is simple and if you've used Pentax Optios previously it is a natural progression. Everything is where you expect it. My niece who is 4 figured out how to switch it on and take a few decent pictures!

The screen is a nice size and bright enough to use underwater at arms length.

Video is clear and you are able to zoom in and out whilst recording and no longer restricted to 60 seconds.

Nearly forgot about the wide angle lens, as the name suggest makes group photos a lot easier in confined spaces. The 5 times optical zoom is also useful.

After initial charge of 2 hours (the charger automatically stops charging when full) the battery lasted 160 photos and 15minutes of video which is not bad considering the majority of photos were with flash and several friends were also looking and trying the camera out. Might need to buy a spare for when im traveling and snap happy...

As yet, two things i am not keen on is that:
1) it has no lens cover
2) the camera requires a service each year to remain waterproof

Apart from that the camera is really good.

Used to own the W10 and it never let me down. Got the snorkellin' gear and wanted a bit more so did a search and anything that gets me to 4 metres with a spec like this camera, well had to buy it straight away. I have not looked back. Aquamarine blue, more modes than would care to mention. The wide angle is excellent for above and below water. Great 5X zoom ! Nice position for the smile/ face capture (that a lot of much higher spec cameras have)! Am pleased as punch - also got it for a good price ! Images are good and sharp with anti shake in action. A decent size to boot. What more do you want . Buy it !!

I bought this camera because I didn't fancy toting one my SLRs round Barcelona for a long weekend sightseeing. I am very impressed, it has seemed to survive being carted around in the pocket of my shorts in 30+ degrees of heat (with the ensuing and inevitable sweat), dunking in the hotel pool and the med. So, so simple to use. The AutoPicture mode seems to take care of most situations and do pretty much what I would have done in the same circumstances, VERY occasionally I felt the need to override its decision on flash and even more rarely I switched to 'P' mode to override the EV setting ( I prefer to slightly underexpose in most circumstances ). The video mode is great fun, I used the 15fps 1280X720 mainly because I have a widescreen telly and frankly it's only slightly jerky. In terms of image quality it will never replace even my aging 6MP Nikon D70 let alone my D200, main issue there is noise and barrel distortion in wide angle settings (software should take care of that). If, however, you are considering a holiday where you might need a waterproof/underwater camera this is way, way, way better than those nasty single use waterproof disposables you can get. You get the opportunity to snap merrily away on the off-chance that one of the pictures will capture that elusive fish - my daughter and I had great fun chasing fish in the med that were practically invisible against the sand and very fast! AND it is a perfectly respectable snapper above the surface and not one you'd be ashamed to be seen with.

We'll see how it copes at the other extreme at Christmas when we go skiing!

In summary, a reasonably priced, easy to operate and robust camera producing decent enough images in ALL circumstances.
