Pentax Optio 750Z Digital Camera

This camera was the peak of development at the start of the millenium by Pentax, for point and shoot compacts. It rivalled many SLR cameras with it's built-in 5x optical lens. There were one or 2 shortcomings, like slow autofocus. There are endless manual/automatic functions. The rather small, but extremely versatile swing and tilt viewscreen allows direct overhead use [over a crowd]. Smaller than an Olympus Trip, but not so small as to be unstable when taking shots like some of these matchbox sized creatures of today.
I bought this one as a reserve for spares to keep the other going, 3 years on it still is, even though I dropped it into a sanddune and wedged the lens up. It managed to crunch the sand up over a subsequent month of use!
Pentax, alas never had a good sales crew, and never promoted it sufficiently. All current owners, love it, and just wished Pentax would bring out the improved '850'. It will not happen as Pentax reverted to limited function auto everything run of the mill small cameras, and then getting nowhere against the proliferation by the competition chose to concentrate on SLR cameras. They were recently taken over by their glass supplier; Hoya.
It was a James Dean amongst cameras.The super macro allowed on screen viewing of upto 40x at 2cm distance. I could look at ink drying on ballpoint pen bearings. I recommend to anyone, to buy one if they see an old stock one. There are plenty of quality pictures on the internet. The original wireless remote had zoom and shoot, and was only 15mm x 4mm x 30mm. Video is acceptable, with 2 resolutions.
Although not the best by current standards, no camera yet has both better pictures and all the facilities; Including an adjustible diopter viewfinder!
I've taken 10000 shots, mostly nature, and engine parts! This camera will only be totally abandoned when broken.
