Top notch drum and bass from the Aussies
Review created: 10/11/09

If you like Prodigy then Pendulum is right up your alley. Inspired by the Prodigy and with cameo appearances such as Dave Grohl Pendulum the Drum and Bass band that moved to the UK for a better audience really are turning some heads. Any fan of Drum and Bass will find this album essential, anyone not into the genre will also be amazed. Notable songs include Slam, Hold your Colour, Blood Sugar and Tarantula.

  Pendulum CD
Review created: 27/07/09

It's Pendulum as they are - some innovative tracks using guitar and vocals that are good to listen to along with the old stompers. Enjoyable CD of high quality.

If it's Drum & base with a little twist then you're in the right place. Nice touch with the additional artists been a freestylers fan since 1999 -

Good album if your into Drum and Bass. A few decent tracks going down the New Pendulum route but a fair few weren't to my taste.

Pendulum - Hold Your Colour, 2007 reprint
Review created: 22/01/09

A fresh sound in the world of electronic music. You can hear influences coming in from across the board, it really sounds like an "album" and not a collection of 12 inches with the same vibe.
For someone who doesn't usually dig Drum & Bass, this still has elements that can get you really grooving and into the whole spectrum of their sound. Think back to old Underworld and Prodigy; they captured all of electronic musical genres and really brought forward an innovative perspective on creating music. I feel Pendulum heading in the same direction and you can start to feel it in this album.
My only critique is that some of the lead synths are very "soft synth" sounding. While the sequences and melodies are tight, I don't agree with some of the "off the rack" Native Instrument patches that were chosen to do the job. Regardless, a fine album indeed.

  A Mum's viewpoint
Review created: 05/12/08

I actually quite like the album myself but my son, aged 13 and with what I consider to be pretty good musical taste, loves it.
The best thing ? Once my son has plugged himself into it, he forgets to play computer games for a while !

I already have the newer album , In Silico, and desperately needed more Pendulum! They seem to appeal to fans of most genres - my usual preference is rock music but i love this. It's a really great album, give it a listen and I doubt you'll be disappointed!

Amazing cd better than i expected
Review created: 01/08/08
by:

I had high expectations for this cd after hearing blood sugar and hold your colour and i have to say it met them, i loved near enough every track execept for a few which i would still consider pretty good. My fave track probably has to be girl in the fire. This cd is a must have to be honest.

I bought this CD as i teach Music Technology at a college and it is relivant to the subject. It is very popular with the students although the original album is a few years old. Listening to the tracks i can understand the appeal and the reason why it is becoming a 'must have'for people interested in the style - a future classic.

Not a massive fan of D&B but liked Slam and the new Propane Nightmares, so thought I try the album, glad I did, quality throughout, all I need now is a pimped up corsa and a burbery hat to complete the image! In the meantime I'll stick with my Espace and trying to impress the kids!

  Explosively Revolutionary
Review created: 03/06/08

Pendulum's debut album that has changed dance music, in particular the sub-genre of drum'n'bass. The start of the album knocks you sideways as the pace starts out sounding like a hip-hop tune suddenly goes overdrive and opens up into the mind quenching tune 'Slam'.
Pendulum are often seen as 'the new Prodigy' as they combine rock and metal elements and influences into dance music to make the highly favoured sound that has to be heard to be believed!

DANCE ALBUM OF THE DECADE !
Review created: 19/05/08

This is a gem of an album, a masterpiece in its field, it sets the standard for
not just d&b but all dance music. Influences from all areas of music, every track
has something different to offer, bpm, pace, dynamics, samples, nods to their peers before them ...its just sublime, when you get to the end you just press play and listen to it all over again, every time hearing bits you missed before.
If this band do not become the biggest festival act of 2008 then God is not a DJ.

SoundsSimple

  Crossover DuB
Review created: 15/05/08(updated 03/06/08)
by:

Brilliant album from the Rock / Drum & Bass crossover band Pendulum. Highlights are Slam, Fasten Your Seatbelt, Tarantula and Hold Your Colour. The rest are nearly as good, and great filler material. The only downside is that Another Planet (arguably their best song) has been removed and replaced with some other tracks.

A great album. If you like drum and bass this is for you, Slam is the best track. Only one thing, pendulum have sinced relesed Granite and blood sugar, two great tracks, but they are not included in hold your colour, just as singles!
